    Hello gamers,
I am an app developer hoping to get some insight/ideas into what it would take to make an educational math title a fun game.

There are tons of excellent ios games out there that are extremely entertaining but a smaller proportion of them try to be educational at the same time. My interest lies between making games that you can learn something useful from but at the same time entertain the player as well. In particular, I am mostly focusing on basic math at the moment ( that would be addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

To that end, I had an idea of combining the elements of Street Fighter type gameplay mechanics (fighting games) with arithmetic operations and this is what I came up with after 3 months of weekend overnight coding:

This is my first foray into implementing some type of mainstream game mechanic in a math educational app. I would love to get some ideas from the gamers here about what they think about this form of game mechanic. If you have any other ideas on how to make a math game fun, please do chime in. Again I am talking about integrating actual game mechanics into a math game, not the usual "tap on correct multiple choice and show a bit of animation" logic that is present in many educational titles. Perhaps a math rpg? Or something different like a puzzler? It is also my belief that a math game doesn't have to be just for children, I think given enough time the game mechanics should be appealing to the general gamer as well.

    Thanks,
    Jiayi
