Sounds like my least favorite type of pay model. The dev makes a good, well balanced game and then breaks it. Of course the player can fix it by buying some IAP. Don't get me wrong. I kick down for IAP all the time. I just don't like the idea of having to pay up to fix a games balancing issues. Angry Birds: Go did that. I was happy to chip in for the IAP on that one, because it was something my son and I could play together. But it still felt a little slimy.
