I'm looking to buy one of these and wanted to see if the TA community had any good advice for me.

It would appear by looking at the comparisons on Apple website that these two notebooks are very close, however the Pro costs $200 more.

Processor: 2.26GHz/2.53GHz(I don't think this is a very big deal)
    RAM: Both 4GB
Harddrive: 250GB/160GB(The Pro has less harddrive space, however not a big deal because both are plenty for me)

The rest just seems to be aesthetics and the Pro has a firewire and SD slot, I don't think I need either of those.

So it would appear to be the Macbook is the much better buy, so can anyone tell me why I would want the Pro?

Ah...you're looking at what I like to call the lowest powered 15" Macbook "Pro" (notice the quotation marks). Yeah...it's basically a Macbook disguised as a "Pro". Honestly, if you're going pro then get the real Macbook Pro 15" with the dual GPU set up, higher amount of RAM, and larger HDD space. Otherwise, get that Macbook you're looking at.

The big difference is the aluminum unibody, and it's more than just aesthetic, as the body helps with heat and iirc the battery life on the Pro is better. That said, the recent Pro 15" that Apple introduced is really nothing more than a Macbook in Macbook Pro clothing. If you go Pro, get the true Pros.

As a clarification, you mean 13", right?

I got a regular MacBook and so far it's been great in regards to heat. I can put it on my bed for 5 hours at a time and the temperature will never raise above 50 degrees. I agree with spiffyone and recommend getting the plain ol' MacBook unless you want to go for a higher Pro model.
