Yeah I'm a PC guy (my camera hates the Mac), but vista was microsoft delivering you a bag of shit, lighting it on fire, and you stepping on it which ruins your new shoes.
If you're an average PC user, Vista is completely awesome for you. If you do even the slightest of advanced anything, it's a complete piece of ****ing shit. You can download Windows Shells/Blinds/something.
I have to say I am a PC guy. I am personally not a fan at all of Mac OS. I like the iPod touch and that honestly is about it lol. Not saying it to be a d*ck or anything, I just cant stand to use it. I love Protools though, which in opinion and experience, is the best in music recording programs, and is the only reason I would buy a Mac. I would have no problem shelling out the cash for the product if even just for Protools hahahaha. But other than that, PC all the way. Though I hated Vista. I agree with AaronAMV, if you're an average user, Vista may seem cool, but if you want to do anything that requires more than 2 IE windows up, your wasting your time. lmfao
well, having a gaming pc would be awesome, but other than that, i would always choose a mac. I already have a 360, so i don't need a gaming pc, but there are a few games that would be awesome to have. I'm feeling quite anti apple today, my ipod touch broke
Actually yeah! My music teacher gets a laptop every 2 or 3 years from the university. He can get a Macbook pro or Windows based machine. He used to have a mac and he hated it. He won't accept a mac even for free. I guess there are people who don't enjoy OSX. I hate the color of it. It looks old and boring.
This is quite imprecise, because OS X is a Unix-based system, and when you open the terminal you have basically a Unix shell. The amount of support you can find online on Unix commands and re-use on your mac is endless. Just yesterday, I used the shell to create a symbolic link in order to sync on DropBox a folder outside my DropBox folder. The same syntax I'd have used on a Linux system. Just because most users don't know that something is possible, it doesn't mean that it's not there.
The only reason I want a mac is to get apple SDK and program for the iPhone. And yeah I agree Vista isn't the best, but when I went to get a laptop there were NO XP's - they had stopped producing them. Vista was my only choice. It was either that or an EXTREMELY expensive Mac. I got the windows and LOVE it. At school they have a bunch of new macs, newest software(I think... not sure if they still have OS X - or I think they had Leopard not Snow Leopard, if that's possible) and I absolutely HATE using them. Once in a while I say "Maybe I could get used to this..." then I try a mac, and I still hate it.
Could've just gotten a cheap XP disc, but guess that doesn't matter now. And Snow Leopard is that big a leap over Leopard. If you don't like one, you don't like the other.
This. Quite a few people just don't really know about Unix shell as "command line" at all from having only been familiar with previous non-Unix based Mac OS. Mac OS X, they forget or just don't realize, is not an update of the "classic" Mac OS (which weren't Unix based), but rather a completely different OS from the ground up. Or, just as likely, they're coming from a Windows environment and not realizing that Unix shell is a command line interface and they can use it to modify what they wish.
is it a huge difference from the whatever the version of osx to snow leopard like it was from vista to 7? if so, i'll get a partition and try it. lol.
In terms of functionality, no, but there was no need. In terms of speed (which you were talking about if I'm not mistaken), it's a huge improvement. The finder opens instantly. Most applications start in half the time, or something like that. All the system is impressively reactive.
Macs are overpriced and barely play any of the games that are out. Really only good for the asthetics and as a toy. PC on the other hand puts all the power in the users hands, if you're a power user/administrator/etc.. you will be better off here.
Another thing I don't like about Macs, unlike with Windows I can't use the Tab key to select which button I'm going to press when I hit return. The blue ring is around Cancel, which is the one I've selected but the Quit button is blue so when I press return Safari still quits. Edit: lol sorry, forgot how big the image is
