CLOTHES! Powerups and skills? Do something like hookchamp! Furnishings and all . And wtill this support ipod playback?
I have an idea, Have you seen the new game Bulletstorm from the Epic Games? Maybe you could have power-ups that do some of the things that are in that game. Like pulling guys to you and kicking them back out, and shooting them. Some stuff that is like over the top like that, though it might not go with the feel of the game. Or maybe like a gun that shoots bombs that attach to the enemy and then they run around and then blow up. Your Animation gave me the idea, since it is pretty graphic. You could have skills that you can get, and equip one or 2 at a time. As you collect more and more stars/coins you could buy those skills at a shop or get a menu that pops up at star/coin levels that lets you pick one or a random one. Then also have Clothes and weapons to pick up, things like that to up your health and damage. Then you could have achievements that go with having so many deaths or something. Are you going to use one of the game networks? or use the new Game Center? Also, is this like going to be a full game that you guys put in a lot of time too? I am wondering since you guys also have that other robin hood game and then that pig game that is not yours anymore or something. Since some of these ideas might be to much for you guys to try and do if you are just trying to get it out the door like the robin hood game.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will consider them all. Just to be clear, when I say I try to get a game out the door as soon as possible, I still only release after I feel it is done and worth the price. The other two games are lower on content, but that's fine since they're pick up and go type games. But for this game, I really want to put in an effort. It's a project of months, and will be a complete game with many levels (24, but we might release with 18 and then add more levels in an update). Some of your ideas might be a bit too much (we're a two man team, I have a day job and El Sato has other clients), but I will still see what I can do with them. The skills are something I'm really considering. Even if Apple decides to block unity-based games in the future (which is backlash from the whole Flash thing), I will finish the game but release on other platforms (Steam, Android, ...)
We are here to give you some opinions Jokes apart > Tht Bunny whom she Shoots in confusion does not look Psycho... at all. It looks Cute! can U ask EL to make him look like Psycho? > Check Archibald adventures, the Buttons are Draggle, one decides where wht button is, implemented by Gameloft for their iPad games > More Screenshots, More onions
The issue with Unity seems to have been resolved; apple changed the language on the SDK to give some wiggle room for middleware like Unity, Cocos, etc. Hopefully we'll hear the final word on the matter soon. Mudloop: I'll be PMing you today with comments on the Alpha build.
This is what I was wondering, if this was going to be a big game that you are putting a lot of time in or if it was more of a pick up and go type game. Can't wait to beta test.
I just got to do an alpha test, and I've got to say: this could be one of the best platformers in the Appstore. For some reason, it reminds me a lot of Gianna Sisters, both in looks and in quality, and as far as I'm concerned, that's a pretty good achievement.
Nope. I wish I could tell you guys, and I'm sorry to say that we still have some ways to go - but it's really a lot of work and I want to do it right. I spent a lot of time tweaking the controls (the alpha testers can probably attest to that). We're doing the best we can. Hopefully we will be able to show some new screenshots and possibly a gameplay video sometime next week to keep you interested.
Sadly, I have not much to report. Making all the graphics, levels, AI, etc is taking longer than expected. I did quit my day job so I should have more time available for game dev in a few weeks
I just got a little tired of working 8 hours a day at work, commute, and then work a few hours on my games and still find time for my daughter and GF. So I decided to work freelance 20 hours per week, and work the other 20 hours on my games. That way I still have evenings and weekends for the family
& the money to fed them! Thts wht PpL don't quit their Day job for, no? Gr8 going, Have been looking forward to this
