Vampire Origins is coming out (and is prominently listed on Chillingo's website, with recent screenshots, etc.). We never saw anything but sketches of LoA -- almost textbook vaporware.
Yes yes, but don't you think that it is primitive/stupid to announce a game which will "soon" come out (like Chillingo did) and which hasn't been released even 1 year after that announcement? It was March 2009. Chillingo put "coming soon" on their homepage. Its March 2010 now. Is it serious? No, its f...in not!
Agreed: it took a long time to get any info on VO, though, to be fair, that kind of leadtime is not uncommon in the larger gaming world. We got enough info recently that I'm confident we will be seeing it soon. LoA never went beyond concept art -- I just wouldn't put it in the same category as VO.
I don't think it's a good idea to hype up the game early. All it does is raise people's expectations to higher than it should be, and the game/dev's reputation might suffer as a result since people will inevitably be disappointed that the game didn't live up to their expectations.
It wouldn't be unreasonable for a game like this to take a year or two to develop, but the complete lack of news or updates from the dev is worrying. In fact the developers haven't even updated their site since they released their last game.. They released "Thor" months ago and their site still says it's coming soon..
they could possibly have full time jobs and just haven't got time to work on it lately. looking forward to it if they ever do release.
But what kind of developer releases a game and months later haven't even announced it on their website? All is obviously not well but hopefully it's not vapourware.
