This is a good choice - at the 'end' my friends actually gave up playing Magic with their cards and we'd deal out those pre-constructed decks randomly to people, so you'd have to adapt to what you had. Worked much better (and cheaper!) than the "open a starter and two boosters, you have 15 minutes to trade, then the tournament starts" since even with aggressive trading you ended up with a lot of dull decks...
