That wouldn't be a bad idea if there's an iPad release. Right now we're focusing on the iPhone to get our feet wet in mobile waters, and we'll see where we go once people have the game in their hands.
This game looks awesome. And yeah the beta tester alliance is the place to go for testers. I think it is safe to say that we all love games so much that we test them out and try to make them even better.
Thanks jumpman. The alliance sounds great! The game should be ready for a beta very soon; we're currently working on tying it all together. Most likely when we do get in touch, the music won't yet be complete, but that's what beta is for!
Hey RC, Any chance of teasing us with a few names of possible follow ups once this is killing the charts? Do you have anything already in mind?
Hi Cygnet, We do actually, thanks for the interest! Unfortunately, we can't talk about our next release yet, but it is in the planning stages. What we can say (and remain completely vague about) is that for our next release, we are looking at a game in a genre that has no (current) rival on the AppStore. Business-wise, this is "filling a niche". When we were making Kale, we had the same intention, but Stardash managed to beat us to that punch. In our releases we want to stay as true to old game design as possible. When Kale is released it might come off as a bit of a shock to iPhone-purists, but we are okay with that.
Thanks for the continued interest! ^_^ We're hard at work on the overall experience. Up until now we've been cheating with the coconut count in debug tests; now our designer is tasked with making coconuts a lot more scarce and factoring that into the game's economics. A lot of little tweaks, additions, and bug fixes here and there, but nothing major yet.
Hi everybody, We'd like to notify all of those interested in this project that we are still working on it, but most of us have day jobs, and therefore less time to spend on development atm. HOWEVER - good news! - Kale In Dinoland is nearly ready for beta test. We've spent the last week ironing out issues internally with levels, bugs and memory leaks. When beta happens, is there a particular person that we should contact to get in touch with the Beta Tester Alliance?
This is awesome. When I clicked on the thread and the first picture loaded I had a wave of nostalgia. Looking forward to this.
This looks great and reminds me of my big fat original gameboy! With your question about Beta testers from what I've seen a lot of developers just say to send them PMs if they want to help with testing it. I do have a question about the control displays though have you thought about putting them to transparent with a outline? They seem kind of like they would be in the way being solid black.
I recommend contacting Red1 (member of The Beta Tester Alliance): http://forums.toucharcade.com/member.php?u=67736
oh he meant to get contact, yeah Red1's usually the one who says beta testers wanted etc. But I wanna test anyway lol Edit: Plus, he's a TA mod and if I'm right a writer too(not sure, I think he wrote at least that jAggy Race review!).
Looks incredibly interesting, but is the stuff about it being an old gameboy game more a PR angle than actual reality? I can't find Skysoft as a developer for the OG Gameboy and the title isn't appearing on any of my searches.
^Same as above ! I wanted to try out the original Gameboy game but it doesnt exist on searches or videos on youtube. I presume its a little 'white lie' but its a bit of an annoying one ! I love the fact that the game looks early 90's retro Gameboy mono but is this a little 'fib' about it being an actual game ? I'll be buying it whatever though as it looks great, wish more devs would create similar looking games
