do you really think big game companies or small ones use google code translater? its quick but not as quick as the next 2 weeks or anything like that. Iit will probably be out mid july if they started when it came out. if not, well end of july. Plus if yall want to play that bad, buy it and play on a friends android or on the pc with Android SDK or Youwave.(I prefer Android SDK). thats what im doing now.
I'm an avid android lover and iOS lover, so I've played grand prix story... it's f'ing amazing!!! It has lots of customization, races are fun to watch, has a nice use of the 'aura', graphics work well as always, it's addictive and charming. There seem to be a ton of things you can unlock as well, from cars, technology, sponspors and best of all racing tracks. They're all varied as well, some have mostly straight sections while others have a ton of curves and some are off-road courses. I've also been playing department store story, because when I was a kid I lived in Japan for a while- ie I can read Japanese - and it's quite fun as well. It has lots of variety to the stores, customers and you must appeal to various groups of people. There are rival department stores to compete against, as well as weird quirky things that I love in the game. ie a bus stop on the 9th floor. Time flies really fast once you get past the initial first year or so, because the pace really picks up. edit: forgot the other two manga dojo is... meh. I haven't found it to be very fun. Reviews on the app store seem to suggest the same thing, as well as a temporary price drop to free. It's a bit confusing at first, and I seem to be stuck because I've got no money left... I stopped playing after about 20 minutes. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong cause I've used lots of "knowledge points" but nobody wants to publish my work and I can't figure out how to resubmit my work (maybe you can't ) game shop story is kind of the same situation. It's not as charming and fun compared to the others, reviews are partially negative as well. You have to rely on an unstable stock system, where you invest your money in various game companies (again named after famous companies) but I don't see much of a correlation as to what actually happened to those companies (maybe that'd be too easy) it doesn't seem to revolve around strategy. Actually running the store itself is quite enjoyable though. You restock items, see which ones you should stock more of depending on the season and trends, so it's thoroughly fun. Again, subpar compared to the other games. phew.
Yes it is, but the iOS version of all their games come out on the Japanese Appstore first and since this one isn't even on the Japanese store yet I doubt they would jump straight to releasing an English version first. Edit: If anyone wants to try their latest Department/Tower game then now you can. they've just released a lite version on the Japanese appstore. I heard they had a airport one but i was thinking about getting the mall first. Plus Grand Prix Story is like game dev story times 10 and add cars.the customizing(parts to research and cars to get along with settings) is excellent. im in my 5th year and only won one grand prix so its challenging. you have to also spend research points right or you'll be behing. the best part is the tracks. There are alot of tracks with diffrent varietys. Their onces with alot of turns, so handling and acceleration is a must and those that are off road, where you will loose if if you are in front if you dont have a off road car. Overall its the best one yet to me. Currently living in Canada #153 nicodemus82, Jul 5, 2011 the reason I think they take so long to release on iOS is because they still focus mainly on mobile phone games in Japan and they're still making those in between bringing games over to the iPhone/iPod. they actually just released a new one the other day. a clothing store game. So he does them at a fixed rate, no matter how impatient you get. kimdoocheol Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2011 78 0 0 #155 kimdoocheol, Jul 5, 2011 I still think the reason why it takes so long to port is more financial than anything. Otherwise, we would have gps right now too. Every 3 months or so seems to be the trend. Anyways I'll take any KS game that comes out. I tried Hot Springs story but its not appealing at all! The same goes with Pocket Academy. I really don't want to manage a hot spring hotel, or a high school. I sure hope they port Grand Prix Story because that actually looks interesting! Civ2boss Member Jun 15, 2011 12 0 1 Web Developer NYC #157 Civ2boss, Jul 5, 2011 3 months wait is nothing. Some of my favorite DS games are the Professor Layton games and those take over a year to translate! They are bigger games with much more content so it's worth the wait, but 3 months is nothing compared to that. kimdoocheol Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2011 78 0 0 #158 kimdoocheol, Jul 6, 2011 yeah, but in terms of release dates don't those games come out pretty annually in jp anyways? i just glanced over the release dates and it seems like 5 games have come out since 2007. anyways, i wish KS would be more well-rounded w/ their releases. it is frustrating to see jp constantly getting new releases. Civ2boss Member Jun 15, 2011 12 0 1 Web Developer NYC #159 Civ2boss, Jul 6, 2011 You'd be surprised how much work goes into translations if you've never done it before. It can take about as long or perhaps longer than making the game in the first place. At my job, our website is preparing for internationalization, so that means every single piece of content in english will have to be easily translated to any other language. This includes not just plain text, but images too. It's a lot of work. I assume that by now Kairosoft have optimized the process, such as that english data file people found in the game. It probably still does take that entire 3 months of work to translate it however. jasonc506 Well-Known Member Nov 17, 2010 129 0 0 #160 jasonc506, Jul 6, 2011 On facebook someone asked when Grand Prix Story will come out on the iOS and Kairosoft said "we can't give the date, there are rules." So it sounds like it will come eventually, I was afraid it might be android exclusive. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
