I feel the iPad is a replacement for a laptop BUT it is for people who don't have need of the advances of a laptop (such as my Grandma) and just use a computer to check emails, look at photos and maybe create the odd pages document. Sure, it would be pretty cool to have an iPhone, Laptop and iPad but it is too many gadgets to keep track of and you would constantly have to sync each device, just to keep everything up to date. I guess you could also use and iPad as a replacement as an iPhone, but it is not portable enough and the great thing about the iPhone is that you can just take it out of your pocket and check your emails ect. IMO resist the urge unless you have a specific use for it and you have either a laptop or an iPhone, not both (or if you have money to waste ). Mad
I have more chance of becoming the next black US president (even though I'm white) than the chance of Apple allowing Microsoft Office on their iPad.
Have a laptop and an iPhone/iTouch? Screw the iPad. It's nothing but an oversized iPhone. Sure it would be nice to play family games (ex: Monopoly) on it, or use it to watch movies, even a digital photo viewer.. Playing hardcore games? Not so much. It's way too big to be holding up and playing in comfort. You'd need to lay it down on your legs to play, which is not how iPhone/iTouch are (you can't even play laying down!). iPad is nowhere close to being a laptop, and I wouldn't get one unless I mysteriously got $50,000. @Kamazar Sigh..
I do my fair amount of research thank you. Quoting me and saying this almost seems as if you've picked one up and played around with it.
Forming strong opinions on things you have never used or knew very little about is the cornerstone of arguing on the internet.
