This is really needed... i dont understand why it isnt already in it

    Agree

Really important. You unlock it once and have for life.... theres not much coins at all and enemy waves comes in really fast so when you unlock everything the game is long finished ;)

I really think all that adds to the strategy of playing the game... Yeah the red bomber doesn't increase it's range... Place it in spots where it'll hit as many as it can within that small range...

It takes a while to research new towers... Decide which towers you really want to try and get through the levels... I really don't think you're supposed to use EVERY tower on EVERY level...

I've beat more than a couple levels with different strategies... One gave me more points than others... Yes that one might be exactly how the devs wanted players to make it through the level, but ive gotten through those levels, with all 10 gems, using other strategies, just not scoring as much... I don't see how this is different from other TD games... There's always going to be one chain of events in a level that gives you the best score possible... And it's almost always found with trial and error/replaying the stage a couple times... Why is it considered to be an issue in this game, and a feature in others?

I have to agree on your remark....it annoys me also.

We only get more advertising, movies and other "look how good the game is selling stuff" iso. giving any response people are trying to point out to.

It would be at least respectfull to notify us with a reply stating that you read and listened to your customers and that you explain what a next patch update could look like.

This is a 69p game. The developer has given us more than enough for our money. People expect so much from iPhone developers.

I will also say that even though I see most if the "issues" you guys are posting as additions to strategy, I will also say that it is a little upsetting that ID is seemingly ignoring the posts instead of saying "thanx for your concerns" or "this is why..." granted it is only a buck now, but the game will be $3 soon, and having an unresponsive rep here on TA will not do anything to help sales once that happens

    Because it's done crudely.

Score is meaningless in a TD game. All that matters, depending on the design, is did you survive or did you get perfect. Some games it's just about survival, others it's about racking up the achievements and medals, getting that 100%.

Done right, those two variations on the meta-goal create a challenging, fun game. Done like they are in JD, you just feel like the devs wanted to stretch the content waaaay out given that, outside the number of "gotcha" transitions, the game is otherwise so basic, yet, anything less than 100% won't "finish" the package.

Excepting the art & sound direction, you have a by the numbers generic game that has used every trick in the "meh" side of the TD arsenal to pad the content. They distract you from the pace with the coin & power up pickups (that can lose the level for you outside of anything else). They throw in waves that until you have their appearance memorized WILL get through whatever the logical build for the previous waves was, and they don't even give you the option of instantly reacting to the change up like 4Towers. They don't let you do anything while paused making it less of a strategy game and more of a twitch fest (and no matter how perfect the plan, the wrong twitch will still lose the level). They make you re-research everything but the most basic towers every single time. They limit you to only pre-selected placement spots, which although not atypical for TD, is done in a way here that just irritates me because the wavy pathing of the creeps themselves means some spots are key and others are actually barely useful, but you can't tell that until you've actually played the level.

It's not just any one thing, because you're right that some of these things appear in most TD games, but the combination and execution here just doesn't work. It's too many wrenches in the gears to be truly fun. This is a TD game I will beat and promptly delete. The fact that I will even bother to beat it says it's not a bad TD game, it is reasonably fun, and wending my way through their deliberate padding is its own challenge, but it is also by no means a very good TD game.

I think of it in some ways like the comments about the Shadowfinger review on the front page. Someone remarked something to the tune of how it's good that we've now reached the point that console-ish graphics in an iOS game no longer earn you any cred for the review - it's the game itself that is being reviewed, not the eye candy. Unfortunately, the iOS community doesn't seem to have achieved this state with TD games. If this game had exactly the same game mechanics it has now, but the aesthetics of something like Frozen Maiden, there would hardly be anyone here praising it and certainly almost no one defending it. Putting a barely above average TD game in a super shiny, super glossy package doesn't stop it from being a barely above average TD game.

It doesn't matter in my opinion if it is a 1p or a 1000p game....i am still a paying customer and should be treated like that.

Is it somewhere stated that if you buy a 69p game that it gives you no rights on some service or support...?
    What a bullshit theory...

Bought it and don't like it at all. I don't know why coz I like TD games but this one just sucks for me. I just don't want taping on screen like I play some japanese rythm game to collect gold for new towers. Why hold button to upgrade towers?! Why even upgrade towers!? I don't like graphics in this game
    too..
    Deleted before finished 2nd lvl

I still don't get it if you like TD games or not if you state that you don't understand why you have to upgrade towers.....9 out of 10 TD games lets you upgrade towers...

This is definitely "just" a 99 cent game that will at some point (if the developers do what they claim) rise to 3 dollars that WE did all their marketing for them by voting, tweeting, +1ing, facebooking the release date to "lower" the price. So I think the expectation is a justified exchange of support. We supported you before release, now support us with our concerns.

Any other case and I would agree with you wholeheartedly. But when you involve the public in your marketing campaign you owe them a little something in return. Even if just ONE post that says - we will look into the issues you all have brought up. We can find a new mechanic for collecting coins. We can build a magnet tower - any.thing. Even if they don't end up DOING it, just acknowledging it says something to the consumer.

This is the part I think that is the most disconcerting. All the ID people were here asking for votes and all for their campaign to promote the game and so I believe that we deserve some follow up. When the game didn't measure up to our expectations then some explanation why or reasoning behind it or even what updates might be coming would be in order. Even an - I am sorry you think it looks too tiny on the smaller devices! But it is like they ignore anything negative and respond with - we are number one strategy in 35 countries!

Ok, we get it, it's an inexpensive new TD. That combination will get you to climb the charts - especially at the no brainer 99 cent price point. But get up to what you say is your "real" price and see how long you can stay there. At this juncture in the app store it's more than just a pretty face that will drive you to the top. The game took so long to develop that things have changed since the early build.

Developer interaction consists of updates and explanations, not rah rah's and look who reviewed us today. In that area, you let us down ID.

It's painfully obvious the person posting here in their name is doing soulless, by the book PR as opposed to any sort of gamer community interaction. The down side for them is this sort of one way tone deaf advertising is easy to see right through. For an example of doing it right, just look at the Tiny Heroes thread - plenty of people posted critical things and were addressed by the devs. The devs don't always agree, and even rebut some user's takes on the game, but they are listening and responding instead of spouting canned PR blurbs.

This is the first ID game I bothered to purchase and it will probably be the last.

Honestly --- I re-read my post and thought, dang I should have compared it to Tiny Heroes where people had similar comments etc but the ENTIRE team was taking a shot at making well constructed and thought out answers to help people not ignore them.

    Thanks for reading my mind!

I never realised that they had done this etc when I made my first comment. Now I have read the posts since that comment, I now agree with you.

Oh yeah, sorry. I forgot that you're not really allowed an opinion on the internet if it differs with what other people think.

I need some help. I just beat a level and a new one did not open up.
I see a bunch of locked levels that say I need 2 stars or 4 stars to unlock.
What are stars and how do I get them? I've beat at least 12 levels, I'm pretty far in the game.

    Thanks

Well well, I bought this game first day out and have literally played it once for about and hour or so and haven't played again since. Why you ask? Because I didn't like it at all and trust me when I tell you I have every TD game (decent ones that are fairly well known that is) on the app store. I give an A for graphics, but game play just sucks! I honestly didn't know that there were several (lots?!) of others that felt this way until I stumbled across the JD thread tonight (for the first time since release) and thought.. well, well, not just me I guess.

I'm not going into all the reasons I dislike the gameplay of this game, the devs over at ID and their disgusting PR don't deserve my opinion. When they sent me unsolicited SPAM trying to selflessly promote their game, I drew the line in the sand. I thought their pre release antics were pitiful, just didn't listen to my conscience when it said stay far away, lesson learned!

I originally felt the same way, but, after playing through 3-4 hrs of the game, I absolutely love it! I also am obsessed with TD games and have almost all of them. The farther you progress in the game, the better it gets.

My only complaint is new levels stopped opening up. They are locked and I have no idea how to unlock them.
