Exactly - it's as if it has been designed to be annoying. Why on earth is there no fast forward option?

Also, the coins are just irritating - what purpose do they serve? Collecting them isn't fun, and doesn't require skill.
If it wasn't for the coins, the tower selection/upgrade/sell interface would work fine, but because of all the tapping required to collect the coins it just doesn't. Often when I select a tower I find the green ring around upgrade or sell almost full, despite me never having deliberately selected the tower before.

If a fast forward option was added, and the coins were removed (or auto collected), this would be a much better game.

    Nice looking game though.

That is because towers upgrade themselves as they get more kills. There's no way to manually upgrade 50% of a tower through accidental tapping. You'd either upgrade it to the next level or not at all.

Oh that's a relief, I thought they'd all get sold or upgraded by mistake as I was collecting coins.

The coins are still very irritiating though.

Jelly Defense is #1 strategy game in 10 countries now: China, France, Spain, Hungary, Portugal, Latvia, Peru, Romania, Slovenia and Poland. Thank you all for your support and downloads!

Which is itself a bit of a hot mess. To manually upgrade, you always have to pay full price, so you wind up in this frenzied dilemma - if you wait for that almost free upgrade to finish on its own you might have a tower that is too weak during the current/next wave, but if you pay for the full upgrade, there goes all the experience since it doesn't count at all. As a result, if you're trying to be efficient, you wind up clicking around like a spaz to find the most efficient choice in upgrades.

Graphically, it's very well done, but there are some conflicted design choices.

Oh, I agree with both your FF and coins suggestions. The pace of the game can be way too slow at times, and the whole picking up coins thing is just unnecessary. It's especially annoying when they fall into spots where they can't be seen easily and you end up missing one. I think if anything, the coins should stay there for way longer, and the pick up radius should be larger.

Did anybody else get an unsolicited notification that Jelly Defense had been released? Mine came in the form of an audible tone and a lock screen message that woke my iPad up during a meeting. Apparently, Jelly Chronicles was the culprit. I was also irritated to find that there is no way to disable future notifications from Jelly Chronicles, either in System settings or the app itself.

I feel the same way about harvesting sun and picking up coins in Plants Vs Zombies. It's not a welcome mechanic, but it's certainly not unique to Jelly Defense.

    Yes. Same here. Pretty annoying.

    Delete it.

I personally like the speed of the game, and the coin pickup mechanic. I haven't accidentally upgraded or sold a tower while trying to pick up coins, because you need to hold down on the tower for those options to appear. Also, the coins disappearing at the speed they do adds some action to it, especially when you get a coin power up that droops a bunch from the sky.

Really, I love everything about this game. There's only really a handful of TD games that I really truly enjoy, and this one is right under my #1 favorite, Anomaly Warzone Earth. I'm about 15 stages in, and really just love it. Infinite Dreams has spent a crazy amount of time on this one, and it shows.

As for the message today, it pops up if you have any ID game on your device... But it shouldn't pop up again, at least, not until they release another game. =oP

I agree on all parts. I only have a handful of TD games and am loving this one. Collecting the coins adds to the frantic pace of balancing everything and I know if I am only 10 coins short of an upgrade, it's my fault and I should have collected faster.

Still have yet to get Anomaly Warzone Earth (I really want it!) but Jelly Defense definitely stands out among my current favorites such as The Creeps, Tower Defense, Bloons TD4 and GeoDefense. I'm relatively new to the genre and always love getting a new one.

    GREAT job devs!

My only gripe is that you SHOULD be able to turn off their notifications the way you can with most everything else; or at least make them silent.

Really pretty inexcusable if you use your iPad in any type of professional setting. I actually had the meeting organizer look over at my iPad when it went off and announced to all in attendance that Jelly Defense was now available for purchase.

    Yeesh.

I haven't accidentally sold or upgraded anything picking up coins, just the pop ups show up. Which disturbs the flow of the game for me. Not an earth shattering matter in my mind but an annoyance.

The difference when you pick them up in Plants vs Zombies is they are visible and they don't interfere with other towers and stuff - or if they do they don't show any other menu popping up. Makes for clutter.

And again, I think it is the dwarfed size on the iPhone as opposed to the iPad. I don't think that would be a problem on the larger screen - I really feel like this is so miniaturized from the iPad size it makes it look so tiny. Just everything - the screens at the end telling you your score, everything.

Shame, since the game itself is so much fun. Really having fun with it but the size might annoy me enough to just call it a day.

Agreed. Terrible practice. I have had announcements go off on me at 2 or 3 in the AM. I was going to get the game - it sounds great, but can't abide this type of advertising.

I respectfully disagree in regards to PvZ. If you tap a sun after selecting a plant for planting, it can easily result in something being planted where you don't want it. Additionally, the suns often drift down directly in front of the shovel, resulting in me inadvertently digging up plants I intended to keep.

My point ISN'T that this makes the coins in Jelly Defense somehow "OK." My point is that its a problem that exists elsewhere in places where we have chosen to let it slide, for one reason or another.

For the record, I don't like collecting suns in PvZ or coins in Jelly Defense for all the reasons you stated above.

Ok I forgot about that since I sort of trained myself to only collect coins when other things were not selected.

This is just different somehow. I found my way around it in PvZ and maybe I will here, but coupled with some other irritations I am not sure I want to anymore.

I understand that coins going into crevices and behind objects and all helps with the difficulty level but this feels like an annoyance. I don't mean to harp on this issue as clearly it was factored in to the design of the game and surely it will appeal to people. It just doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe if I get an iPad one day I can replay this game and love it but for now it has reminded me how much I miss The Creeps and how far behind I am on Bloons TD 4 so I think I should spend my time on those.

If it's means anything to you, there's not all that much content. I've really not had all that much time to play it, couple of hours at the most spread out over the day, and even being so anal that I immediately restarted a level if I lost a crystal, I'm still already past the 1/3rd mark. I'm thinking if you are at all competent at TD and not insisting on gold starring every level you could probably blow through everything in under 3 hours - maybe that's why there's no fast forward.

Just picked this up. The artwork and music are absolutely fantastic! It all fits nicely together. Gameplay is what you would expect from a TD game (by that I mean awesome) and the interactive menu map thing cracks me up every time. 'Whoooo!' Gotta love it.
