When the iPhone/iPod Touch first came out, it was the best looking smart phone/touch based mp3 player, with the best looking interface on the market. Unfortunately, I no longer believe that to be the case. Am I alone in thinking that as far as looks are concerned, each iPhone revision looked worse than the last, while the competitors have consistently made their phones look better and better, and their screens look bigger and bigger with less and less wasted real estate on the front http://www.coolhunting.com/images/HTC-Touch-Diamond-6-View.jpg I still think the Zune HD is the best looking mobile device on the market today... And I certainly still don't understand why the black bars above and below the screen on the iPhone need to be so large, the screen could instead be longer. The home button could be made smaller or slimmer. The speakers could be shifted upwards. Something akin to this... And I definately don't understand why it seems like Apple took a step backwards in terms of aesthetics with the new iPhone. There was never a laptop that looks sexier than the Macbook Pros. As competitors updated their designs, Apple improved their designs as well so that they always stayed ahead of the competition. There was never an mp3 player that looked sexier than the iPods. As competitors updated their designs, Apple improved their designs as well so that they always stayed ahead of the competition. There was no smartphone that looked sexier than the iPhone when the iPhone first came out. But Apple has allowed competitors to eclipse Apple's iPhone (and iPod Touch) in this area.
Wow. This has to be the most pointless thread ive ever seen. Id take my itouch over all of those anyday
It's a matter of taste. I, for example, don't find the Zune HD the least bit attractive. HTC generally make decent but only marginally above average devices, aesthetically, though the Touch Diamond is hideous and the Touch Pro 2 is utterly yawnworthy. Don't even get me started on Windows Phone 7 devices so far, especially Kin. Dull, dull, dull, and the Windows Phone 7 UI is an eye-bleeding mess. On the other hand I love the look of the new iPhone. Slimmer, yet more substantial looking, and lacking that rear bulge that I never cared for, an ever-so-slight touch of retro while still looking completely modern, still with a minimalist yet compelling style. I'm very much looking forward to its release, probably moreso than any portable device yet. Your eyesore is my DaVinci.
... he said while sipping his 1948 Merlot in the mansion's library, sitting in his bathrobe with a hound at his slippered-feet, and a fire cackling behind him.
Well, except for the hound and the bathrobe, I have to say your perceptiveness is uncanny. The retro was a reference to the button design; slim, metal discs reminiscent of stereo systems from the late 70s/early 80s era.
All of those are super ugly IMO. While I do agree that the iPhone is not Apples sexiest device (but this summers looks really hot) they are still way hotter than this.
