I'm wondering if there's a way to delete certain files from an iPhone game.

Take Chaos Rings for example... it sucks up almost a gig of storage, and most of that goes to the voice files. I don't even have the voices turned on, so that's a pretty big waste of space.

N.O.V.A. is another good example... I have the sound turned off completely because the voices constantly repeat. More wasted memory thanks to voice files.

I've tried navigating to the voice files for both games using iExplorer so I could delete them, but it doesn't work because the files disappear for a sec, then come right back.

Is there any other program or method that'll let me do this, bearing in mind that I have a PC and don't want to jailbreak my iPod?

No. It's only possible with iOS 5 and under (with no JB), and even then you'd have to be very proficient in locating the files you want to delete and not breaking the app. Most of the time in Gameloft games the audio is packaged away with other stuff, and you'd need Xcode and a lot of know-how to locate what you want.

    It's not worth the trouble.

GL games have a voice option.
When I play Gangstar during my breaks I always mute the voices. Even if Johnny isn't as bad as Raul when it comes to swearing.
    Also 9mm.

Yeah, not possible anymore without jailbreak.

Besides, if you just deleted them you'd probably get errors in the game or make it really buggy.

So you'd have to replace them with blank audio files, which would be REALLY annoying.

It would be nice if developers treated large audio files or other high volume expendable items as optional free DLC; it's a shame that Chrono Trigger takes up 600mb+ just because of bulky audio files when the game itself might be under 100mb. A man can dream...
