I got an iPod touch 3g 32gb which I had bought last month. Today while charging it with a 3rd party charger, I noticed a very feeble vibration on the back metal case especially on the top part. Is this normal? I didn't notice it before as I always use it with a silicon case. I could not try with the USB cable as my pc was sent for repairing. The vibration is very feeble, but I can sense it. Somebody please check this and reply me please.
Sounds like it could explode. If I were you, I'd put a bucket over it while it's charging, just in case. My cousin was actually injured when he put his PSP on charge and it started vibrating, then the battery must of leaked and it exploded in his face. The vibrations on his PSP were pretty strong though. And if they are weak on your iPod then you should be ok.
It's very feeble. I had to make sure twice. I don't know if it the current that is leaking to the case is the culprit.
Looks like the current is leaking from somewhere. It happened with my iPod too. But once I replaced the charger and the USB cable, it went back to normal.
Yes there is current leaking to the case. When I switched ON the charger while holding the iPod, I got a very small electric shock and then that feeble vibration. This only happens while charging. I don't know if this has anything to do with the the 3rd party charger that I am using now. Somebody please try charging your iPod with a USB cable and tell me the result. Also please try charging with a charger if you have.
I Am from India. And here there are no apple stores. Apple provide warrenty services through a company called Redington. I called them and they told me that they won't repair, but just replace the device. so I am going to wait for 2 months Before I replace untill a new jailbrake is released for os 4. That way I think I will get a free upgrade to os4 too. But will that new device be of any sub quality?
