Greetings all. Considering getting a Touch for gaming but still doing research. I understand you're allowed 9 pages of 16 apps/page giving you 148 (minus Apple's "home screen" apps, e.g. Safari, Clock, etc.). Also understand the closer the iPhone/Touch gets to full capacity, inevitable slowdown occurs with the games.

From your personal experiences, about how many apps or pages did you guys have full before you started experiencing slowdown with your games? Which device (iPhone/Touch) do you have, what generation, and what capacity? Also, if you're given a fixed number of app spaces (148), why are there three different Touch models? Thanks in advance.

With 3.0 your only app limit is your memory limit. :)

Also, this sort of thread should really be in the lounge, just keep that in mind.

First of all wrong forums. But no worries. Some mod will move you soon. :)

Second. there are 11 pages possible now instead of 9. And with new spotlight feature you can have as many apps as your memory allows :)

Third I dont think the amount of apps really make your iPhone/touch any slower. I have appx 400 app in my 2G 16GB iPhone. All I can relate with too many apps is the time it takes to turn on after a reboot. It seems like the more apps you have the more time iphone takes when it starts up. But other then that I dont thi k number of apps really affect the phones performance in any way at all. Just my opinion/experience though.

EDIT: BTW this is the worst time to get an iPod IMO unless you are trying to take advantage of apple`s back to school promotions. Other wise I`d rather wait 2 more months as they will be replaced with newer models with definitely more features and storage capacity while the price remains the same. Just thiught you should know. But if cant wait that long then go ahead and buy. Nothing wrong with that,,,

I own a first gen iPod touch 30 Gig. I have 94 apps on my iPod. I have 455 songs, 23 videos and 19 photos.

No slow downs... ever. It has worked great from day one. (knock on wood)

My only complaint is I want a camera on my iPod, but that may be happening in September, if rumor come true.

I have a 16gb 3G with about 8 pages of apps on it. It's not THAT big of a deal but I've noticed that it's been a little more sluggish over the last couple of pages have filled up. It's not too bad or a problem but it's a little more noticeable now. It also does weird stuff not too. Like if I end a calls sometimes the favorites menu (where it's at 99% of the time just before I make a call) will take up the WHOLE screen (even covering the battery info and stuff) and you can't click anything. I have to hit the home button. Anyway! Yeah, a little slower.

    iPod Touch 2g - 8gb - 3.0 fw
No Slow downs as Apple allows us to run only 1 app at a time :)
With OS 3.0, one can have 325 apps including the default ones.

I'd ask you to wait till sept.
As everyone else has stated that the iPod touchs have an upgrade cycle, we have seen 2 gs so far, both announced in Sept.

It seems like it should have a camera & also a microphone, I don't thynk the Compass'll help, it definite that the processor & the ram ll be Upgraded thougg, I am not sure wat else Apple'll include & exclude to keep a subtle difference between the iPhone & da iPod touch.

currently the highest capacity is 32gb (of which probably less than 30 are usable)
