Hi everyone. New user and come this Friday, iPhone user as well! (to even further my newbie credentials, this will be my first Apple product I've ever owned as well). Anyway I've been super excited this past week reading app reviews, game reviews, accessory reviews all in preparation for when I finally get my 3GS. I've created a list of games I plan on buying(maybe not all at once, but eventually) thanks mostly to the post/reviews on TA! My question is, is there anything missing from this list that you would recommend I definitely check out? Is there something on the list that you know is utterly trash and should not get? I think I've covered all the bases: Platformer, simulation, rpg, TD, racing, arcade, puzzle, card/board games. Dacool561's iPhone Newbie Gamer Starter List: Flight Control Texas Holdem SimCity Field Runner The Sims 3 Tap Tap Revenge 2 Reign of Swords Orions: Legend Of Wizards Hero of Sparta Aurora Feint II 7 Cities Vay Zenonia Peggle TapDefense Chess With Friends Trace Space Deadbeef Sol Free Solitaire JellyCar Real Racing cs.one Rolando Defender Chronicles Castle of Magic
You're missing Pocket God, if you have an iPhone you have to have it (it's not a law, but should be). Toki Tori is a great puzzle platformer as well, check out the lite version to see for yourself.
ummmm... I would say either Uniwar or Mecho Wars. Both are good turn based strategy games. Dinosmash is a great little cheap online game that is pretty fun to play, also Galcon is a good game to play online.
Crash Kart racing is good. Its like Mario Kart LOL, that's a lot of games for a newbie. It would be months to finish all of those.
i would skip vay, reign of swords, and cs one. Reign of Swords is a great game but the second one is coming very soon apparently so just to save some money! Vay is just not that good and cs one has very hard controls and i just dont really like it myself.
i would suggest brothers in arms and assassins creed; also dont get rolando, wait for rolando 2 and ngmocos upcoming unnamed fps (formerly livefire then killtest, but is going to be changed soon)
Thanks for all the awesome suggestions everyone, keep it up =)! As for Rolando, i picked up a free code from Best Buy for it, so no worries there. >_< can't wait to get my iPhone and start playing some games!
SimCity - Too fiddly. Many bugs. Field Runner - Much too simplistic. If graphics are the only thing you are interested in then, have a ball! Zenonia - Awaiting promised up-date. Bad spelling. Bad controls, amongst other stuff, but the best RPG on the iDevice. Peggle - Wonderful little time waster Real Racing - Faultless cs.one - Once lag is sorted in pending up-date, faultless. Rolando - Perfect presentation and game play. But it's like Marmite. You either like or not. Defender Chronicles - In depth TD, lacking in some information and some terrible voice acting, the latter I know will be addressed in the pending up-date. Castle of Magic - Having fun. I find it a bit choppy honestly. Wish it was smoother.
I whore out Drop 7 whenever I get the chance. Be sure and check out the lite version (be patient and give it a few chances, you'll be hooked after a bit)
+1 And I whore out SAUCELIFTER! Best arcade game in the appstore. Truly great, especially for just a buck. Also, any in my "PLAYING:" section in my signature are solid games I suggest you pick up. As well as a ton more that I don't feel like listing out. Listen to the other members!
I would suggest getting doodle jump, sway, cube runner, and isotope to add to your list. Also I would skip on reign if swords, simcity, and Holdem. I'm not a big sims 3 fan, it got boring too quick for a $10 game. Also get fieldrunners, peggle, and rolando first.
Galcon? Need For Speed? Quantum Collapse? BUY POCKET GOD!!!! IT'S A LAW!! jkjk but seriously help out the dev and trust me the next update is awesome!
get assassin's creed, brothers in arms , toki tori, resident evil, and terminator salvation...those are my favorites, plus get the other great gameloft titles on sale - asphalt 4, real soccer, and lets golf
Eliss! That game is retro but full of multi-touch awesomeness. It was one of the nominees for the Independant Game Awards. The funny thing is the icon looks like crap and absolutely made me not want to buy it, but give it a shot and you won't regret it.
If you want something original that really shows off the touch capabilities, you should get Card Ninja. Its been recognized by Apple as a new and noteable app and has gotten some great feedback on TA. I'm biased of course since its my game, but I really do think you should add it to your list if you want something unique to this platform.
Zen Bound? Star Defense? Clusterball or aqua moto. Achibald's adventures. Toy bot 123. Rasta Monkey. Word Fu.
