I agree. I would buy it just for the gaming and I am sure I will have fun with it in many other ways. I have not had this much fun playing games in a long while..............since the snes days It will also be awesome to put all my digital pics on and to show them to friends No USB port is a disapointment for me but I will be first in line and enjoy it for what it can do and not what it can't
iFail the iPad is a failure. why? The NAME. the F*cking name. iPad???? srsly. Size+Specs+Price If i want to play nova i would buy an ipod touch because it fits in my pocket. iPad doesn't fit in any f*cking pocket. And for it's size?? i would rather buy a laptop which costs $500 with 250GB of Storage + iPod touch 32gb which all in all costs $800 rather than buying this iCrap for the same price with only 64GB of storage, and i cannot do much with this iPad because it lacks the most essential element of a tablet computer -multitasking, another thing is, it doesn't have a webcam for video conferencing via skype/yahoo. Conclusion: FAIL
while some may think this is 'FAIL' and on a technical level IMO it is, many of you will be aware just from your experiences with some of the apps youve bought and probably heard about on these forums, that you can have an average product, but if it is sold in the right way and marketed well, it equals 'WIN', apple shareholders are well chiffed and its not even out yet. Sure if youve got a itouch or iphone you dont need one, my poor old mum with her bad eyesite will love it. couldnt resist sorry
If you wouldn't call it an ipad wtf would you call it. They have ipod, iphone, ipod touch, imac etc.. This is a touchpad. ipad. It makes sense. On another note, How long will it take someone to Jailbreak this one do you all think?? We'll see.
iPad isn't meant to be a laptop or iPod/iPhone replacement..it's being marketed as an in-between. does any other tablet pc fit in your pocket? it's not a full fledged computer why are there so many complaints that there are no usb ports..
I think the name might be an allusion to the fact that we're living in the future. Meet the original iPadd...
My complaint is that it isn't really in-between... it's far, far closer to being an iPod Touch than it is to being a MacBook. "In-between" implies we should have a whole load more options than what we've been given.
it seems Apple is relying too much on the Iphone, first ipod touch, then magic mouse now ipad. The first two makes sense, but this is just ridiculous. Apple has became too cocky, their innovation is no more n they think we just gonna buy whatever craps they throw at us.. people, IT IS JUST A BIG IPODTOUCH. 500+ for 3G version, and because of the mini SIM, they force buyer to pay extra data plan too wtf? I have 12GB on my Iphone plan n I can't even use up 1GB, why do i have to pay for another data plan? I'm gonna wait till next year for the iPad 2G hopefully then Apple will come to their senses n fix this
Well, I'm guessing, that by what Steve Jobs said at the start of the event, this device is made for photo/video viewing, and the best internet browsing experience. Thereofore, judging from Engadget and Gizmodo hands-on articles, this beautifully accomplishes this.
This device is going to be tremendous, and the gaming world will benefit immensely as an entire new market of casual computer users comes in. None of you (well most) see this yet because.. you're not the target market
ive read ur blog earlier Dave. Ur points are valid. Im just pissed off because its not something I want . But for the purpose of reaching to the casual market, I think the Ipad will definitely do it
i really do not see gamers jumping on this. its to big. i see my self using one as a electronic news paper. etc. and i would love to try to play sway on one. one thing no one has mention. the great success of the ipod is because most house holds have more than 1 ( well its not the main reason but its one of the many reasons ). i do not see a family needing more thna 1 ipad.. assuming they even want one to start with. i also agree would be perfect for people who are prone to screw up there computers.. and always call me to fix. laughs. time will tell what happens.. i do think it was silly to promote it as web browser with out flash. have they not surfed the web as of late. its like all flash these days. laughs. if i could get adobe photoshop on it with a good stylist.. wow that would be a instant sale to for me. i could make crappy art till my eyes turn red. chris.
I'm glad reading this thread. Mostly my thoughts are the same as with the majority of people here. I could see this product being used by non tech savy folk. It is so easy to engage in web activites with this device. Yet the people who this device is targeted for would not know that they actually need this device. It is up to the tech savy folks to explain to others why they need it and should get it.
Come on people, why so much negativity? I do get what some of the frustration is about. I personally would have rather seen the following: 7 inch display instead of 9.7 inches, 32, 64 and 128GB instead of 16, 32 and 64, flash support and as most have said multitasking, not to mention a lower price tag. With that being said, I think we shouldn't be so quick to bash it, without at least a first hand experience. Think about something here. Do you really think that a company as successful as Apple would waist there time and money designing and releasing a product such as this without thoroughly researching the probability of it's acceptance and success, once it got into people's hands?
Like the Wii, households that normally wouldn't think of it will want one when they see one at someone else's house. So will your mother and grandmother because it's finally something they can use without needing to know how. If you can use a microwave, you can use an iPad. Of course, Apple's marketing should take care of a big chunk of that part if my hunch is correct
The thing is, the technically ignorant casual computer user/gamer isn't a corner of the market. They're the majority of the market, something nearly everyone who is up in arms about the iPad seems to forget. There's a reason the Wii prints money, even though every gamer under the sun stopped to squat over it and take a massive shit when it was first announced and they found out it couldn't do HD gaming. So while you guys might not be interested in the iPad, your parents will be, and that's a much more lucrative market to go after than people who complain when things cost more than 99¢ unfortunately.
I wonder how much it will cost in Europe. Fair price would be about 360-400 euro's, but I think they will just replace the Dollar icon with a Euro icon.
