I agree I'm also on 3GS I had a 16gig that was updated & it lasted longer.... I also have a 8gig 3GS that was 4.0 out of box & it seems too last even longer than the above.
Agree to both of you. My 3GS and iOS4.0 has let me play PES2010 an hour longer than usual. Also H.A.W.X. for nearly an hour longer. Even at surfing with wifi the battery now works better.
hard to make such a blanket statment that touch suck.. reports seem to contradict such a statement.. my touch works fine.. like i posted several pages ago. i think this is like guitars.. win some lose some. lol chris.
Well yes...sort of, but even the 3G & 1st gen iPhone don't support the iOS 4 features doesn't mean it's not optimized. It's just not an efficient optimization. Which seems to be the case with iTouches & iOS 4. Obviously iOS 4 was built specifically for the device it debuted on because the A4 can deffinatly Handel keeping everything you have in the switch dock, run background processes, stay connected to cell sig & wifi simultaneously...etc So wait till iTouch 4 it'll probably have way faster than iPhone 4 (slightly) because it doesn't have all the constant connections. That's the way it's always been since the first gens didn't you know that?
Ok let's calm down...I didn't insult someone mother or hit a child. It's was more of a joke since I'm more partial to the phone. I've had many of iTouches so I can say how I feel from first hand experience. Who cares about contradicting reports?,..it's a frickin opinion.
It's probably a bug, Apple's listening out for bugs like that at the moment. There is no actual reason for the battery to drain more, it should if anything be exactly the same as previous os on non iPhone 4 hardware... The next update may fix things, I really don't know as Apple doesn't let much slip edit: jailbreakers might have their battery usage nuked a bit if they enable multitasking.
I thought it was just me, but I'm seeing the same thing, I lightly use my 2nd gen Touch and the battery has gone to hell, now i do use the bluetooth for a stereo headset, and I usually am in a wi-fi area(home).
wow you took what i said to serious. laughs. as i gave my opinion on my gen 2 touch.. like i said win some lose some just like with guitars... my gen 2 ipod is a late model.. so who knows maybe it has more in common with gen 3 than a gen 2.. its all good man. happy 4th. also, do you know when gen 4 ipods come out as ill be getting one. i think sept yeah? chris.
Ok I think my problem is that my battery is going down to 20% left in like 40 minutes then staying there for 2 hours. Something is wrong this should not be happening.
Hmm that sounds like my problem... maybe its not draining faster but the battery gauge is farked up. Maybe someone should test to see how long it takes to get to 20% then from there to dead.
My 3rd generation ipod touch gets no more than a hour on a single charge, if I'm using it to do anything significant. Gaming falls under the category of "something significant." And that is without iOS 4. It's pathetic anyway, so what difference does it make? I purchased an eternal battery on the internets. This battery carries 5 full charges. It's massive. I would never rely on Apple's sad excuse for an internal battery, so I won't be concerned about battery life here. I'm waiting for more compatibility updates though, so I haven't installed iOS 4 yet.
is the battery bigger in the other company's hand held gaming device? iv never used one of them so i have no clue, just what i seen on tv. surprise sony has not bashed apples battery life.. they are going after apps. chris.
Yes they are bigger but this battery is 5 years old lol and it just rocks but isn't there some fancy new battery that apple can invest in that has a huge battery life but is small? I would almost trade the retina display for a battery that gives me more than two hours of battery life... EDIT: woops ipod battery died when I was making this post haha (no joke)
This is the battery pack he is using. With some electrical wiring this would give the ipod the justified battery life it deserves imo...
My iPhone 3g definately dies faster now... I have to charge it at work most days (never had to in the past) and that's almost all down to a 30minute train ride where I play 'The Creeps' while listening to my iPod :-/
