so...I have this warrior mercenary, right? it's level 97. But, 1 of its skills is maxed out at 2 (Soul's Thirst) and another (swirling storm) maxed out at 1. I can't use skill books on them because they're not maxed. Does anyone know if these abilities are permanently capped on all mercenaries? if the individual caps very from mercenary to mercenary? Or if my skillbooks are basically useless for those abilities?

I'm using a Priest merc and I'm having a hard time keeping my mana up for healing.
The only skill that I see on my skillset that recovers mp is Ordination Prayer.
Does anyone know if this is a good skill to invest in?

Btw, is anyone experiencing potions lost?
Earlier during the game, I lost all my potions and I thought I may have deleted them by accident.
It just happened again, and I'm pretty sure I did not delete them.

It does seem as though there is a level cap to mercenary skills. I have a vast collection of skillbooks and they will only work if the skill is already lvl 4. Even if the skill has been maxed e.g. Priests skill "Celestial Lighning" is maxed at lvl 3 (cannot go any higher), I cannot use a skillbook.

Therefore, this means that skillbooks can only be used to incease skill above lvl 4. That's such a PITA since I spent ages farming for them (for ebery class no less)

sgcc, could you do me a favor? if you have a warrior mercenary, could you check soul's thirst and spinning storm to see if the max's on yours are the same as mine?

All right, I'm moving my potions to the back of my inventory.
If they disappear again... then I don't what to say.

I lost all my small potions, and those are my way of making medium potions.

Tried to increase Swirling Storm to lvl 3 with a skillbook and it didn't work. Bummer

To 3? Is your swirling storm lvl 2? Mine is maxed at 1. That would mean individual maxes are random as well.

Yep. The skill is adready at lvl 2. This must mean that there are indivual skill lvl caps for each mercenary. That's really annoying but it won't make that much difference since my party is pretty hench (I'm gonna just sell all the skillbooks I've collected)

There's no level cap to mercenary skills. You guys just need to find divine mercenary seals which trains more "skilled" mercenaries. The mercenaries that come from divine mercenary seals have a higher chance of getting level 3-4 skills, and if you get one with a level 4 skill, you can then use a skillbook.

I've used Divine emblems and the warrior it gave me had Swirling Storm maxed at lvl 2. I can't be bothered grinding for divine emblems to produce mercenaries that might get skills to lvl 4. IMO it doesn't make that much diffference as I'll do a second playthrough with classes I haven't used

hm. that's a little disappointing. I had what I thought was a really good warrior merc. He had all but 3 skills open. But, now there are a few skills which I'll never be able to improve. hm. I also just recently realized that I misplaced some of my skill points. So, at some point I'm going to have to use gems to redo them (and lose the 2 skills books I'd spent). I'm just going to experiment for a while before i finally do it.

that's what we were referring too -- the fact skill max's aren't uniform among mercenaries. Not only are the skills available to you determined randomly, but the levels to which they can be upgraded are limited by chance as well.

by the way...the end of the main plot line is getting a little ridiculous, heh. It's feeling like the end of the third lord of the rings movie.

crap... I think I am screwed.

I accidentally went into the final area of the city trapped in the mists, where I break the seal and free the town at the very end of the game before the sanctuary, (~ level 90) thinking I would fight 1 maybe 2 bosses... but instead I have 6 to fight while underleveled. Now I am almost out of potions and revives, and I am down to the final fight which has 3 bosses at the same time instead of 1, when 1 was hard enough. Does anyone know a way to get out of here?

haha same as to what happened to me. i did what the others said. i just stayed there and tried to get all the possible recipes in the machine, while farming for lamps to buy and sell, and at the same time leveling.
    --

and about the mercenary, ive found 1 assassin named "Rica" who has 14 skills unlocked. but his last 2 skills are low lvl, freeze extreme at lvl 1 and shadow phantom at lvl 3 :< so unlucky i guess.
    --

and btw, im gonna start my next playthrough with mage now. and im definitely gonna save all those gems for the last recipes. LOL its hard to hunt for me imo :<
