Lol, well said:) what kind of game is it where 90% of the time is just following what to do. I want to explore, do side missions and not lame ass gameplay where you follow the same paths to slash and hack and rinse.

    I'm against "free-roam".
It would wipe-out the game's cinematic mood just to pointlessly move around.
For some silly reason some people believe Infinity Blade should be like Skyrim or something when at it's core, it's a fighting game.

Okay, okay; you got me. If I thought I thought I could get the same free roam experience as say Elder Scrolls, I'd be all over free roam. As people like to throw up all the time, iOS can't be compared to console games, so I'm staying practical. On rails is better than free roam on iOS (just like I think TPS is better than FPS), at the moment. This is my personal opinion! I'll play IB on my iPod and Elder Scrolls on my Xbox.

Zombieville 2, everyone's beloved game, at heart is quite repetitive. It seems that on rails gets a bad rep compared to sidescrollers because of graphics.

Also, I tend to get fully immersed into story-lined strategy games like Ravensword and King of Dragon Pass, personally.

I also felt IB1 was more immersive and fun than DH2. Played IB over and over again, but only played DH one time.

Dark Meadow came out after IB1 and clearly shows that there is a place for on rails games on iOS.

Gaming is subjective like a lot of things in life. Everyone has their own personal opinion. I just feel people can be brash, myself included, more often than naught.

    Edit
Haha, we both mentioned Elder Scrolls. Yeah, IB is a story-lined fighting game. A good one at that, IMO. Chair wants you to enjoy the story that they made along with the fighting aspects, IMO. "Graphics Implied"

I have to disagree respectfully of course, but you have to see IB's flaws. Why would I spend my hard earned money on a game where the outcomes are very obvious? I want mistery and connection with the in-game charcters. One of you mentioned IB2 is twice as big as its prodeccesor but it's the same boring slash and hack gameplay with weak story line.
Ps I wasn't trolling or whining just stating the truth.

I genuinely don't believe the iOS is capable of something like that yet, especially while using the Unreal Engine for graphics. People are always open to improvements and innovation, but that's not the point. The point is that the majority of AppStore customers are more than satisfied with the type of game Infinity Blade already is. Epic Games would be shooting themselves in the foot using significant amounts of additional resources trying to create a different experience when customers are already incredibly satisfied.

With that said, there already announced that Infinity Blade has 5 times the enemies, 4 times the arenas, and 3 times the equips from the first game, so exploration/replay value should definitely have shot up. Not to mention, every preview on the web so far by iOS sites has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm expecting good things.

Finally, as the makers have reiterated time and time again, Infinity Blade is a fighter made to take advantage of the iOS platform. It's not supposed to be a full-fledged RPG. That's exactly what Epic Games has said they don't want it to be. They want it to be an experience you can't find on consoles. If you're looking for an in-depth RPG with more exploration and immersion than you could ask for, buy Skyrim.

I can't wait to sync Infinity Blade 2 tomorrow night.

I don't. For me, IB is about the battles (although the novella made me think that maybe IB2 will be pretty meaty in terms of plot, too). There are plenty of games where you wander around open worlds, but it's better suited to consoles, where you can sit down and play for a long time.

The "slash and hack and rinse" you seem to be unsatisfied with is the game I knew IB was when I bought it, and the game I wanted. Maybe IB will take the more open-world path eventually, but the lite-RPG-on-rails is a perfect portable game, and I'd rather see it expanded on as IB2 is doing, not thrown out the window in favor of a console RPG imitation.

I do. After watching the demonstration it seems clearly possible. You seem to be under the impression that I'm intent on bringing down the popularity of this game, evident by the way you continue to stand in its defense.

If you want to keep mentioning Skyrim, I have it. IB isn't Skyrim so u can stop telling me to go get it. Also, Skyrim doesn't run on any handheld, as far as I know at least.

Clearly, Epic Games won't be the ones bringing that game to the iOS with Infinity Blade 2. Defending the game? I'm stating facts. Infinity Blade is exactly what the developers set out to make. It's not like they can't make console games..that's their main job.

Keep mentioning Skyrim? That was the first time. If you have it, then go play it and get through 10% of the game before asking for something like it on another platform. Did you even read any of my post? If you did, you must have chosen a few random words to respond to. Taking my words out of context isn't getting this conversation anywhere.

Also, you said you wouldn't be posting anymore how many posts ago? I'm getting tired of replying. The game is coming out tomorrow. Impressions are going to start rolling in from NZ members in under 6 hours. We're done arguing.

All I wanted to say was that Infinity Blade is the game that Epic Games set out to make and that the large majority of AppStore customers enjoy the game greatly as is.

well this proves that you haven't really looked into the game at all. it hasn't released yet and you think it plays exactly the same and you think it has a weak story line. both are wrong. and i don't think this is considered stating the truth either unless you beta test secretly for Epic.

i think your assumption is that since you thought the 1st game sucked, the 2nd game will suck. i don't think it works that way. besides, you're implying that the game can't immerse you in the characters unless it has free-roam. how does that work?

First of all, I think you're mad. Second of all, I didn't take your words out of context. Third of all, it's hard to resist temptation to reply when ~5 people are replying to me, half of which state flawed arguments. Lastly, you're definitely defending.

I'll pass on replying. I just want to say that I'm fairly certain not one other member would find any semblance of anger in any of my posts in this thread.

    Another killer video arta, thanks.

Looking forward to impressions in the morning!

ok guys, enough fighting. This is getting ridiculous. I'm personally excited for this game, and I know many others are as well. If you don't think it will be a good game, just wait for reviews, read impressions, and make a more informed decision post-release. If you still aren't swayed, its fine. That's a personal preference, and should be respected as such. You don't need to buy the game if it doesn't appeal to you.

@Brrobotix, I definitely agree. I wasn't looking for attention but I garnered a hell of a lot since my original post, I assumed people wanted to discuss.

What's funny is I might end up getting this eventually just for novelty.

EDIT: at the risk of people beginning to think I'm just trolling..

I'm pretty sure we all know what the impressions will look like. Same game, new zone. I'm curious to see if there is any added features, though. Don't be fooled, I am interested otherwise I wouldn't be posting. My guess is impressions come out excessively positive based on the quality of Epic's work and popularity.

    Yeah, forum wars. :D

Just to everyone that does't like Infinity Blade don't come on the forum/thread trying to impose your will. Your arguments are flawed in the sense that this is a story-lined fighting game. If you want a full RPG play Aralon, wait for World of Midgard, etc, etc. You're trying to turn a fighting game into a something that it's not.

I think I'm actually going to tell A Sharp that they need to incorporate free roam into KoDP because it lacked the mystery I wanted.

Plus, this is like the first rule of beta testing: Devs want your opinion on their game, but they don't want you to try and change it. They put all of this time into an idea and then you're like it sucks because gaming is subjective and I'm entitled to my opinion.

I'm done replying to this argument. If you want an excellent free roam RPG go to an RPG thread.

@Madman If you want a full on RPG experience check out something like World of Midgard. Also, like I said, I don't really know if the free roam experience could be console quality or close. We will see if WoM can stack up. I'll personally message you after I put a decent amount of time into the beta!

Sorry man, IB1 was just on sale. Literally, the price just went back up.

Do you need to play the first one?

Not necessarily. In all honesty, I'd just get the second on if you can't get both. I've bought plenty sequels first and gone back to play the first.
