I think Xoria meant what iOS firmware, not what devices. and it should support iOS 5, given Chair's expressed interest in cloud support (as seen in their interviews). Hopefully it'll still support iOS 4, I haven't made the jump yet.
I like sales as much as the next guy, but this game is launching with alteast 5x the content the original came with, in addition to added depth, story, and strategy. Plus, they're going to support it with numerous updates. so I'd say its well worth paying less than double the original's price for over 5 times the content.
If the price is US$9.99, I will instant buy. Just have an idea, if the game changed to freemium, what do you think? Will you hate it?
I'm buying it no matter what the price... Although, I hate freemium, and I think if this was freemium it would ruin the experience.
Freemium is a blanket term, it really depends on how it's implemented. If they use some sort of energy system to limit how many battles you play through before a recharge period, or if they change the item system so that you need to go through endless grinding or keep buying more gold to level up, yeah that would pretty much break the game. But I'm almost 100% sure that they're keeping this premium. T
Pretty much all of this! Freemium can be pay to play (least desirable), a game that was made free but has IAP (this makes a game more desirable resulting in more downloads; Bullet time is a good example), or SNG (this is a different beast altogether). I'd bet a a very strong dollar that it will be premium with IAP to speed up the experience or purchase IAP exclusive weapons. I also think it it will be competitiveness priced at $6-8. They might have a special introductory sale for like $5 on release day, but I highly doubt it. Also, from a marketing perspective they don't have to sell the game for $10 to do well especially with IAP. Also, $10 can be a huge turn off to the average player; this will definitely be taken into account when pricing the game. Remember, we are part of the TA forum so we see the added value, but think about all the other people that buy games in the AppStore. This is just my opinion, but I think they will focus more on making the IAP as appealing and profitable as possible. This is the big daddy revenue system on the AppStore, but it can also kill a game if not done properly, IMHO.
I'm hoping the pricing is similar to the original. I'm fine with the IAP for gold, because it doesn't affect the game play at all, and is totally optional. However, if they charge for exclusive weapons, I'll be just a little annoyed (I'm a completionist )
yeah, i read it somewhere (I think on their Twitter, can't really remember) where someone ask about pricing for IB 2, they said that it'll most likely the same as the first one and they said to stay tuned. thats it. hopefully the same price, but $7-$8 still worth it for sure.
actually, I'm pretty sure there won't be any IAP exclusive gear; rather, they said in an interview that there will be some items only available through looting. Plus, making IAP exclusive gear just opens the door to unbalanced gameplay, if it's not nerfed completely
Oh that's great, I thought the first one was priced perfectly, and given the fact that this one is like 5 times bigger, I'd be ok paying an extra buck or two
true! moreover, they said that many items (weapons/armour/etc) can be get through the 'clash mobs'. so, getting gears/weapons through IAP is unlikely.
i'm just REALLY worried if they change the firmware to only support 5. as we all know, a lot of issues still need to be fixed. i've heard some really terrible things like saves disappearing and games no longer working. no way i'm switching to destroy all my hard work and money. then all i've heard about clash mobs is icloud so that's what also bothers me.. i wonder if you need ios5 to do that. and THAT would be super lame.
I see your point but games do it already. I was just throwing it out there because you can never really know what the marketing team will do. Also, I'm not super up to date on all the recent details. So, thanks for the comment. My statement was mostly an educated guess based upon marketing tactics and it seems like most was spot on except for exclusive IAP. I was just throwing out the possibility. I will, however, say that this would be the game I expected to not do IAP exclusivity. With a lot of developers doing IAP exclusivity it's nice to know this game will most likely not have it. I'm just a little on edge after some DH3 conversations. Most new games still seem to support iOS 4.0 and higher. If some things are iCloud specific then you just won't be able to access certain things until you update. iOS 5 isn't that bad; the progress bugs don't hit everyone and it doesn't affect all game either. It's annoying but I really, really like iOS 5. Plus, there's generally going to be problems with updates and anything new, as nothing is perfect. And, most major games support iOS 5. The reason a game wouldn't work on iOS 5 is because it has't been properly optimized for the new firmware. I have tons of game and they all work on my device; now, when iOS 5 first came out they didn't, but pretty much eveery game I have works properly.
I hope the gameplay isn't going to be as boring and repetitive as its predecessor, and I want a longer and more interesting plot.
Haha I don't blame you, hearing about DH3 was kinda painful. but I doubt Chair would get greedy like gameloft. And seeing how they made so much off of the original Infinity Blade with only IAP gold purchases, I think they'll stick to what works.
