Got this one the last time it went on sale. I haven't had the chance to play it yet but I'm looking forward to someday.
Hrm, seems to run fine on my ipad mini. I reset it after the install since it was massive (had to delete tons of apps) but I'm glad I got it. No crash yet, switched areas a few times, got to first town, no probs. Very fun so far, albeit a bit difficult to make everything out on the smaller screen. Seems like a very high quality diablo-like.
I know this one constantly vacillates between various discounts (probably on account of not running too hot on pre-Ipad 4 devices), but 99 cents is a bit of a steal for a game of this magnitude.
Why are the reviews of this on the AppStore so bad? Does it crash as much as the reviews say? Or is it just because people are trying to play it on old devices?
I think about 1% of them are to do with the gameplay itself, and the other 99% are because [on the wrong devices] it crashes more than a drunk-driver convention. I've never had it crash myself after doing the standard restart/close all apps thing first time I ran it. I kind of wish reviews relating to hardware performance were in a different section to ones to do with the actual gameplay.
Can't answer that, though I think it should be fine. Might be worth Ctrl F'ing "Mini" in the reviews. By the way, I should mention there were quite a few bugs which the dev fixed after talking to some TA'ers here. There was one which just stopped the game dead for a lot of people when you got to the cemetery (hey...dead...cemetery ho ho). Plays much better now, plus they almost tripled the content since launch for free. Shame when an indie studio launches a slightly crippled beast out of the gate and kills some of the momentum it ultimately deserved when it got healthy again (I'm too tired to check to see if that metaphor made sense or not). Oh, and if you do get it, the game can be pretty damn difficult with the barbarian dude. I went with the ranged witch. She also has the added advantage of not sounding like the cookie monster.
It runs very well with maxed out graphics. Didn't had any crashes. But there are still bugged quests which can be game breaking. It's not guaranteed that you will encounter one of these bugs but it's still possible. Save often.
You'll be waiting a long time, then. The game has not been selling well at all, hence the frequent $.99 sales, so I doubt they will be updating if they are making no money.
