    Hello fellow Touch Arcaders.

We have recently found out that my brother is very ill and will be going into hospital in a few weeks for life saving treatment,

Me and my family want to get him an ipad as he has always been on about one and I really think it would help take his mind off things while he is in hospital but the problem is there is no way we can afford one.

I'm trying to get some ideas on the best ways to help raise some money, any ideas are really appreciated and am willing to try anything, and sorry for putting a downer on anyone's day!

    Thank you :(

Sorry about your brother, hope he feels better! Just try and raise money, but remember, he needs life saving treatment, you wanna make sure you are able to afford his health. But, you can do car washers and chores around your neighborhood, and say why your doing it.

Sell your iPod Touch? (the ultimate sacrafice!)
Hope he makes a quick and full recovery :)

Well that won't be an issue because he is from the UK where we have the NHS and "free" healthcare.

Now that is one to think about!

Good luck with the iPad buying and wish your bro a speedy recovery.

You should get your brother something better than an ipad.

If he's going to be there a few weeks you might want to get a job and give him the iPad after he gets better.

Hope he has a speedy recovery. :)

    Fixed,
Although we have to think positive there is a 40% chance he might not come out of hospital. :(

Those kinds of odds are always guesses. I wish they were more accurate but they are not.

In the US it is always smart to get local media involved. They can reach lots of people and give some credibility since there are so many scams out there. Also, local dealers quite odten do not mind making donations to worthy causes. Good luck.

    Hi,

pluto6 had good ideas on the local media and that may bring a donation from a business, depending on if they can market it.

That sounds crude but if there is a great story, it helps to get a response.

Another way, you beta test apps it looks like, you ,ay try to get some of those developers who you have tested for and ask them to donate something through paypal.

The ideas by pluto6 are ones I would try first and they may be your speediest way to make this happen.

Personal note, I hope your brother has successful surgery and has a long life so he may enjoy this gift you are trying to get for him.

My dad does work for a charity that does brilliant things for very ill children and they have "big" (quite expensive, or once in a lifetime, my friends cousin met the England cricket team) and "little" experiences and the little ones often involve giving donated things, see if there are any charities like this in your area, or big national ones

Set up an 0900 phone number that charges £1.50/min.
Then put a sign on the back of your car saying 'how's my driving?'.
    Then drive badly.
Then watch the money roll in.

Good luck tho, and speedy reccovery
