Here lately, I have been stuck brainstorming "the next big thing". I get drawn into this periodically, and I usually keep these ideas to myself, not because I'm expecting to make a fortune off of them, more so because what I come up with tends to be a little unrealistic. That is until now...

The first idea is an open framework for dynamic optimization of web content and web applications for internet connected devices (smart phones, netbook, tablet, TV, ect)

The second idea is on the search side of things. This idea isn't a google killer by any means, more so a natural evolution of search engine results that show not only relevant content (according to the search query) but results that are optimized for the ideal experience/consumption on the device the search originated from.

I will explain the first idea in more depth in my next post....

An open framework for dynamic optimization of web content & applications for internet connected devices.

With the advent of the iphone, smart phones having been getting more and more real web browsing capabilities (-flash), tablet devices like the iPad (amongst others) will start to gain some traction and soon be browsing the web more and more going forward. Also don't forget about a two screened tablet device form factor, and sooner or later TV's will get more and more web savvy and millions of users will begin browsing the web on their TV's.

    What does this mean?

well it means that in the near future (and right now) developers will be very interested in any suite of tools or an OPEN framework that will help them optimize their content and applications to be ideal for more and more devices; formatted to perfectly fit the size of the screen, the UI tweaked to be ideal for the kind of HID being used by the user (touch, TV remote, game controller, mouse/keyboard ect) and of course addressing compatibility issues, as these devices will most likely come with their own proprietary flavor of media codecs and unique limitations.

However, this is already happening now, developers are slowly but surely optimizing their content/applications for a mobile (small screen) experience, so its not like I stumbled upon a hidden secret or anything.....

But what about a tablet optimized experience?, or a TV (large screen) optimized experience?

or should the web remain mostly a one size fits all?

also in addition to just web content and application optimization...

there's also a growing need for advert optimization (across multiple devices)
