Оh, it was a really bad idea to stop this offer before weekend, so, you can get iDaTank for FREE till September, 4th!
Same here. If I remember correctly, I was getting a little frustrated having to start all over again (not on the same level but at the beginning of the game) if you died 3 times. But I don't think I gave it a fair shake. Might have to try it again myself.
Holy sh*t! This game is amaaaazing! Actually the best part for me is the grinding+exploration. This almost feels like a real time nethack game. If they made a new game with the same mechanics with souped up graphics and additional content, i'd be all over it!
So does it mean they dont care for the game anymore and just letting it go for free now? That's just too bad coz they have something really good going on here. I bet a sequel would rock the appstore. BUT they have to update the visuals to attract more customers. I hate to say it, but it does seem that nowadays, people forget that gameplay>graphics and just go for game that look good on screenshots.
I don't know about just keeping it free, I highly doubt it. But the last time I talked to the Dev, it really sounded like yeah he wasn't going to do anything else with the game, or make any more iOS games. I think he actually sold this to a Japanese Dev team to work on and sell in the android market. But he didn't really think that they'd do much with it, or that It would even hit the AMarket... But I agree, seeing a sequel for this with a graphics upgrade comparable to the jump LOE 1 and 2 had, with the new iPad hardware pushing it... Would be supremely amazing....
Whelp, I tried it, and the controls kill it for me. I tried it both with the D-pad on and off, but neither option feels all that enjoyable. The concept is pretty cool, but I just have trouble overcoming the game's inherent clunkiness.
From what I've played so far (I could be wrong), it seems the controls get better and better as your tank gets upgraded. I don't think the visuals need changing at all. IMO, they're perfect the way they are, and the game is just one huge charming bundle of polish...but the screenshots don't do the graphics/visuals any justice for some reason. I honestly avoided getting this from day 1 because those screenshots coupled with the very "iDunnoLol" title just seemed to rub me the wrong way, even with void's endless praise. Now that I've played the game and fallen in love with it, (like I said earlier) I honestly regret not being able to have had supported the dev, and it saddens me that we may never see another iOS release from him. As far as I'm concerned, (and I'm becoming extremely anal about what stays on my iDevice) this one's never leaving my phone.
Huh, guys, hi all and thanx for the positive opinions. This price drop is just an action provoked by the Chinese app portal. It will be back to 2 bucks in 3-5 days.
This plays like a DSS without the shooting stick and weapon upgrades + perks. Does the gameplay concept (ferry crystal to activate portal) really deserve this much praise? I also fail to find any satisfaction in destroying enemies without aiming.
About the controls... I do not like Fixed D-Pad style, but while playing/checking a bunch of games, I haven't feel so comfortable as with iDaTank's D-Pad-off / Floating-D-Pad. I'm not planing to get back to indie for about 1-2 month, but I have already a filled enough to-do list.
