playing games it felt like everything was leaning to the right, so i tested it using a free app called angle, and put my ipod straight standing on its side on the table. (its an itouch 2G btw) and its leaning 5 degrees to the right. have tried a restart, a restore and have also tried shaking the ipod manicly to see if that does anything. what funny is this is my replacement ipod, but luckily im still within the 30 days of getting it so i can return it, but i was hoping maybe somone else had this issue and knew of a way to fix it? hope you can help. otherwise looks like good old fashioned books and my trusty ipod shuffle will have to be my traveling entertainment for a week (or more as its coming up to xmas)
Funny you should mention this today. I just got my 7 month old iPhone 3G replaced today for a similar problem. Only in my case the accelerometer wasn't working at all. The phone would no longer go into landscape view. The apple store replaced it, no questions asked. I fully expected them to give me a hard time about it since the problem stemmed from a severe drop a couple of months ago. But I was completely honest with them and they just replaced it. Needless to say I was happily surprised. Fantastic customer service. Pay attention all you apple haters...
mine is defo 5 degrees, and have tested it on multipl surfaces, just in case the table is messed up. is this common? should i just put up with it if its likely my replacement will be the same? is there any chance somone else could quickly test their ipod with the app "angle" if they have the time. if its likely my replacement will have a similar problem then i wont bother, but right now, 5 degrees is VERY noticable for me, especially in games like boost 3d or backbreaker, where you cant recalibrate.
Yea its so nice to go into Apple stores, the employees are so polite and helpful. Calling their help number is another story..most of the people don't know what they're doing lol. When I called to get a free replacement for my sister's 5G vid iPod, I was told I was going to have to call Japan -_- called a couple days later and had to say the serial number about 15 times..not exaggerating lol.
Btw you can calibrate Boost 3d by pausing the game when playing (touching the screen) and tapping the calibrate button and calibrating it.
The app shows mine is 2-3degree off, so it's normal right? As I actually haven't noticed anything before testing it. Plus, we can calibrate in most games.
okay so this is common then? and thanks for the tip about calibrating boost 3d, and as you say, most apps allow this, so i can deal with it most probably. but still is more people could try this angle app and let us know whether theirs are the same, if this is very common then obviously there isn;t much of a problem and im just super sensitive to this (it was boost 3d that really made me notice, as thats very sensitive anyway, but now i know how to calibrate that wont bother me)
Apple has always had A+ customer service. They even break their own rules (seems to be a trend today).
I think mine might be slightly off, but I'm not sure. I only noticed this when I was playing Labryinth 2 and I kept calibrating it but the ball kept moving when I put it on a flat surface. I think that I might be able to counter balance it by calibrating it against the direction it rolls into.
