Wow! I just installed iOS4 and it literally took only 30 minutes (and I have close to 800 songs and 400 apps). I'm surprised it took that short a time but boy, am I relieved! I went from 11 pages to 1.5 pages So far, my folders are named: Strategy Sim Adventure Physics Platformers Match3 Racing Rythm Puzzle Puzzle2 Casual Casual2 Card&Board BamBams (defenders and slashers ) Sports TM Line Drawers SwingRollPop Misc. I'm having some trouble categorizing some of the games though. I'll probably rearrange the folders over and over again.
I've ended up with all my untested games being categorized under A,B,C etc... I think I'm up to M right now. LOL.
-Mail(NF) -Base Apps(Unused Apple) -Utility -Settings(NF) -Beat "Em Up -Donut Games -Driving -Flying -Further/Higher -Gamebox -God/O.W.(Open World) -Line Drawing -Longer -Misc. -Music -Physics -Platformers -Point & Click -Puzzle -RPG 1 -RPG 2 -Shooter(DSS) -FPS -TPS -Shooter(Misc.) -Sport/Skate 1 -Sport/Skate 2 -Table -TBS/RTS/TD 1 -TBS/RTS/TD 2 -"Toss"
Doh! I like that "Base Apps" idea! I only actively use about half of those so it would be nice to have all of those silly ones I'd delete if I could out of my way! Heck I might even do: "Tasty Apple" and "Sour Apple" to divide the undeleteable apps. I also like the idea of the "Toss" basket as I often will have a few apps I not only want to take off my iPod Touch 3G but want to remember which ones they were so I can be sure to toss them from my iTunes directory as well (like various lite/free games that weren't worth upgrading to full versions).
93 Apps Organized into: -Top Casual -Utility -Console (console quality games, like GTA or Space Miner) -Strategy -Other Casual (casual games that aren't so great-I got most for free) -Driving -Sports -Zombie -Music -Fun Stuff (jokes, funny pictures, photo editing tools) -Rare Play (Apps I never use but are too good to delete )
Can't believe I didn't think of a DG folder, definitely need one of those! Toss is also a great idea - right now I've got so many pages glitched I tend to download/play games in batches and decide what to delete - if I delete them while attached to iTunes it'll remove them from my sync list w/out having to touch the apps tab (and therefore losing my glitched pages...) Though with folders, that should no longer be a problem. Anyone tried manipulating folders in iTunes, care to share what that looks like for us iOS4 holdouts (no update for me until Isotope and a few other games are updated/confirmed working...)
Folders in iTunes work the same way as on the device, you just drag one app on top of the other and it creates a folder. You can then open the folder to re-arrange the apps within or pull out an app if you want. If you remove all apps from a folder then it disappears. Seems to work pretty well so far.
My folders are as follows -Productivity -Reference -Entertainment -Faves -Action -Arcade -Board -Card -For Fun(games I'm not sure where to put) -Multi-player -Puzzle -Simulation -Strategy -TD -Word -Junk(games that I play a few times and delete)
