    Okay

I've heard people bring this up for months now, and I don't know how you guys haven't really figured this out by now BUT

If you live outside the US, and you want to use a promo code (they only work in the US) all you have to do is MAKE A US ACCOUNT. You can grab a random address of the internet if you have to.

When it comes down to entering your credit card info, select "no method of payment". That way, you only need to use this account for free games or for redeeming codes.

Just FYI, I'm not aware of this being illegal or anything, and since beta testers and review-writers outside the US are just as competent, they deserve a shot too.

If I'm breaking any rules, let me know and lock up the thread.

Something to keep in mind is by doing this you'll lose the ability of simple click and download updates. You'll need to log in with each account to check for updates, it's kind of annoying.

Yeah, but you can just install the updates in iTunes and sync. Just click and login to either account in the store.

Be careful which is the last account you used though as that's the one that will sync with your device, in case you choose to download directly.

So if we do this, can we still have "US-games" and "UK-games" on the one iPhone both at the same time?

I don't want to sync my freebies or promo-code games form a US-account onto my iPhone, and then find that my UK-bought games are removed from my iPhone in the process...

You can have them both on your iDevice at once, I've been using this method to get promo codes for months. It works like a charm. :D

I've heard if Apple finds this out that you are doing this your iTunes Account will be banned, I;m not sure if it is true just that's what I've heard.

Mostly a rhetorical question, but why does Apple even have that "US-only" limitation to begin with? About time they ditched that.

Thanks for the quick answer — reckon I might just give it a try if I get a promo code that's worth doing it for.

Sometimes, especially if it's just 99c / 59p, it's just easier to buy the game and have it all under the one account...

Bloody hell, yeah — tell me about it...

  10. Not really. I have my standard Canadian account which I use to buy music and apps, but I made a US account specifically for redeeming codes. You can still download updates for everything you buy and redeem; I've never had a single problem updating any of my apps no matter which account I'm logged into. The only annoyance is that you can only leave reviews for apps when logged into the account you bought/redeemed them with. Other than that, no issues.
