The one on my iPotch lasts me about 3-4 hours at 30-40% brightness.

That's based on my usual round of things. Which is commonly 30 minutes of Wi-fi, and then my apps just completely killing it. :)

How long does your battery last you doing your daily tasks? Just curious. :)

I use my iPod a lot, so I know the battery isn't as good as it used to be. Maybe three hours with a game, no wifi, 35% brightness? I get like 1.5-2 hours with wifi and push on.

I use mine a lot too, but it's not the use that makes the battery deteriorate, it's the charges.

Iphone 2g brightness @ 30%, Lasts me all day on average, I have gone 3 days without charge and gone sometimes as short as 1 1/2-2 hours. But average is all day.

I guess you don't use apps as much?

Cause I noticed I could get mine to last me for about two-days when I stayed away from heavy battery using apps.

Yes, I know that. The more you use it, the more you have to charge it. :\

Yea, But I still have some time during the day @ work for a few flights in flight of the hamster... I also get a good amount of web surfing via wi-fi, I have been happy with my battery life so far, but I can tell that it is slowly getting worse, anyone know the price @ an Apple store to get it replaced for a 2G iPhone?

Hmm so if I keep using/charging my iPod then Battery life might go down to 2 hours?! I will have to start fully draining the battery before charging then :(

I believe technically it would be best to not fully drain and recharge it, I've read that it's better to recharge it when possible.

    I believe it's $70 for all iPod Touch's/iPhone's.

Actually, it's best to complete full cycles. (AKA fully running out the battery and then fully charging it) That makes the battery hold more charge in the long run.

The people here seem to disagree:

Obviously I'm not an expert so I can only base my decisions on things I read. And on practical things of course, like for me it's easier to keep my device as close to 100% as possible so that I know I always have as much battery power as possible. Much better than going on a 1,5 hour trip and finding out that there are only 15 minutes of battery power left while listening to music.

My iPhone 3G lasts a good day before I need to recharge it (that being everything I use it for, music, calls, internet etc etc) but my "testing" iPod touch usually lasts about 3 hours (apps/internet only).

No, as according to Apple, full cycles keep the battery longer.

They also say the 2G Touch battery lasts 36 hours for music and 6 hours for video.

Nearly every site I've read about lithium ion batteries says that full discharges/charges are not a good thing. I'd rather take the word of iPod users, who have personal experience with this, than Apple, who is making, oh shall we say "generous" estimates on their battery life.

Of course, for Apple, the faster your battery runs dead, the quicker they get your $70 (Raving conspiracy here that should not be taken literally).

They recommend a full cycle once a month, that's all. Lithium-ion battery do not have a memory effect; this is common info.
