exactly. There is no way for the iPhone to have the control schemes required for the kinds of games you people keep imagining will work on the iPhone.
this is in response mainly to acidshaman: dude. you really need to be slapped. now on to being serious. Games like Bioshock and GTA4 are what, 7 GB on the console version? YOu do know that the 8GB version of the iTouch only holds 7 GB right? So um you by an 8GB iTOuch and put your music and videos on, and then Bioshock miraculousy comes out for iTouch and you pretty much have to delete everything so that you can play ONE game. Also, 32 GB of AAC+ quality is more like 25 days of music. Now stop being a MAC fanboy and realize that Macs really aren't that great. You pay about $1000 for the Apple brand logo essentially. Just so you're aware.
I find it funny that you just down everything I said. the new U3 engine will be available cross platform, and the new 4G iPhone/4G touch is going to use the same EXACT intel processor as the new PSP processor.. (intel likes apple) FACT. How long will it be before people decide they would rather have the touch device than the PSP, when the same games are running @ the same graphics/speed... laugh like Ballmer and his Zune fantasy IMO These don't need to be console quality or length.. WERE TALKING PSP Quality, not XBOX, you are the one who needs to be slapped for making assumptions, @fluffyguitarist And u want hard evidence: Its why I bought 9 shares of AAPL last summer and its gone up +57 points/+$500 (altho yes I know it was @ 200 pts when the iPhone came out)
i am not trying to defend anyone here- but who said anything about CONSOLE quality? I am pretty sure everyone is talking about a very good port or something or maybe i did not read enough. But all i am looking for is a decent port on some popular console games, and i think that is very possible with the combination of 4th generation idevices and the upcoming unreal engine.
wow, I serously think someone needs a tissue.. first dont tell me to STFU and go away, what are u a Sony Rep? Is this PSP Forumz? http://www.consolespot.net/forums/general-psp-discussion/27063-info-hoax-psp-2-coming-2010-equipped-w-powervr.html This is a post referencing the original article, which I can't find.. If your lazy just Do Find Word: and type in iPhone, it will take you to the paragraph..
i doubt any developer will have the balls to do that. take cocoto kart for example if it was made for the ds it would be at least 20 bucks and people are posting on the reviews "good game but 2.99 is too exspensive should be a dollar" and all kinds of stuff like that. people dont seem to realize that if a full game on the app store would have come out for the ds or psp it would cost around 20-30 dollars and people on the app store think that 2 bucks is too exspenive for a game that would cost u 20-30 bucks on a different system
Console games are as large as they are because of the high quality assets that go in to them. Next-generation consoles display at 1280x720 or 1920x1080 and output sound designed to be played on a 5.1 or greater home theater system. The texture resolution required to make something look amazing on a 480x320 screen is nowhere near as large as what is needed when outputting to a HDTV. Similarly, with a game that has audio designed to be played over a single speaker on the device or through headphones, the developers could chop off a significant portion of the audio quality without anyone being able to notice. Now, I'm not sure how realistic it is to think that we'll ever see a game like Bioshock or GTA4 on the iPhone, but the limitations are definitely not the file size. If this engine can't even run on non-3rd generation devices, something tells me developers aren't going to be very concerned with making sure their games fit on the lowest-end device in the product line. And as far as raging against Apple, I'd really suggest you drop that argument as it's going to get you nowhere.
