Multiplayer Interesting everyone should mention multiplayer, I am a dev and spent a good better part of two months building a full out game server engine just for this purpose. In the end however I am not sure that I could release a multiplayer game such as a 3d FPS and keep it alive due to support costs. Bandwidth and servers to run it on are expensive and if you only make a one time sale of a buck or two it is not going to pay for the long term cost of keeping a server alive. Just to break even I would have to sell 500 or so copies a month minimum and for all but 5% of games out there that just is not happening. On top of that it would cost another 500 sales or so per month to support the pirates, would depend on how well I could defeat them(and I am only talking about a single game server). Pretty risky venture in my opinion, not technically difficult but financially difficult given the market dynamics. As for the question at hand even my Wii is sitting in the corner collecting dust, I play the hell out of my iphone.
I have a PS3 and a Wii. I used to have a DS and PSP but sold them both. iPhone games offer me so much more unique titles for a lot less the the other systems and they are are so fun! I use my iPhone sooooo much more than the PS3 and Wii!
I haven't touched my DS much since getting an iPhone, but I don't think my iPhone replaces my xbox 360, the 360 is still where I do most my gaming
hardcore pc gamer through and through, thats my prim. my ipod touch is the secondary gaming device though.
I play my iPhone while playing on my PS3! I talk about iPhone gaming online occasionally! It is both funny and sad!
I think the best way to put it is that the iphone is the new king of handheld devices. There are many reasons but mostly because of its astounding number of creative and diverse applications available, all at affordable prices. I wouldn't say it's better than the PS3 or XBOX for gaming yet, it still has a ways to go and those are home consoles that you can't play on the go so they're not really in the same league of gaming, not really fair to compare.
I sold my ds almost as soon as I bought my touch I've never really been obsessed with console gaming either, so the iphone is definitely my pick.
This device made me become a gamer again. My time was Amiga 500, Amiga CD 32 and PS 1 / PS 2. But now I'm back in action playing way too much Thanks, Apple.
Nah I disagree. I've been playing the Conduit quite a lot recently. Its the FPS with the best controls on any gaming device currently. It certainly beats iFPS Though I must say that the iDevice is definitely my portable gaming device of choice.
By far! But only because I don't have time to play games like I used to. Goes like this for me, iPhone > 360 > DS > Wii > PC > PS3
