I don't think one has ever encouraged me to, however, several have deterred me. If they can't put effort into a good icon, will they put effort into game?
Yes, a nice icon definitely gets my attention. With so many apps to browse through, nice icons give a false sense of being superior.
If I'm interested in a game, it's released and I don't like the icon that won't change whether I buy it or not. However if I'm browsing the app store, or appshoper a nice icon will get my attention and I'm more likely to check it out. A bad icon I will skip over unless the name grabs me.
The icon doesn't really affect my purchase, but it does affect whether I over look it on my springboard. :b
Yes. Icons that look like Flash art give me pause. Icons with FREE or SALE on them give me pause (but thats OK in the store, just not on the device). Some great games can hide behind awful icons, though!
ALWAYS for me... if the app icon looks somewhat interesting I will more often than not check out the description and screenshots. If the icon is dull and boring or mediocore in my opinion I wont even bother looking it over.
never ever. i mean, attractive icons make me wanna check them out. but, a bad looking icon doesnt change my decision to buy or not to buy.
If I find it while randomly browsing Appsniper or something, yeah, the icon is going to affect whether I download it or not. If I'm specifically looking for a game, though, the icon won't affect my decision.
I bought Zombie Escape today JUST because I thought the Icon looked cool lol, this is a common occurrence for me though
Depending on my mood/lack of pepsi/workday it can mean an icon is the decider, usually though I go on peoples opinions on TA, a few of you I will intently look out for in a thread, just incase its given the stamp of approval. But after dealing with soccer players for a number of years, what an icon looks like is sooo not something you should really decide on!
If the icon looks really sloppy, like made in Paint by a 10 year-old, i definetly get weary about it. It's deceitful, though, as so many games have great 3D graphics but awful 2D art in menus, select screens, icons... It boggles the mind how some devs don't take the time to hire a real 2D artist. If the dev is sloppy enough to hire a shitty artist, why would you trust him to deliver a polished game?
I'm quite disappointed with Crimson Gem Saga, Chaos Rings, and the Dracula series (especially this one) icons, but they don't reflect the quality of the games themselves.
