I was transferring my music off one hardrive to another. I use this aluratek snap in box for the drive. It's like an external case where you drop the drive in. First the drive showed 350 gigs data. The transferring was taking me all day. Even early though, I was getting occasional errors where some music files would not be accessible. That was okay, as the majority were transferring. By night time, the drive list was now missing half my files and the total on the drive now read 160 gigs. 200 gigs suddnely missing? Folders not only disappeared, the ones left started to show as 'empty' or 'can't read'. I was freaking out. The drive was quite hot to the touch, but they are supposed to be.

This morning I started again, and now the drive is showing the full 350 gigs of data again! I'm ecstatic, but how is this possible? Was it the heat from running it all day that would cause it to start losing access to data? I usually see a completely failed drive, or one that works. Never one that works, then doesn't work, then works again.
