Yup Microsoft owns halo..Keep in mind though that they have released games on iOS such as tentacles and ms.splosion man... So for them to release other games to the AppStore is not unlikely..We can always hope for the best ... BTW given the smashing success of both KOTOR and Xcom everything's possible now..
Though you must be skeptical, as I understand this video was originally recorded sometime in march. Also the text displaying the News could always have been edited as he was on a PC. Not to mention this is the only person claiming to have recieved this message on Halo 2 Vista. With how large the Halo 2 Vista Online fan base is I'd imagine more testimonial soon if not already. I really wish it was real, I love halo and have always wanted to experience it on the go, but take this with a grain of salt. If it is true though, news should be officially announced in July.
Yep. Exactly what I was thinking. Unlike their counterparts - Sony and Nintendo - MS has shown they don't mind grabbing some of the iOS money pie. The fact that they released Tentacles: Enter the Dolphin (which happens to be one of my all time favorite iOS games) and Ms. Splosion Man on the platform means they don't care about catering just to their Windows phones. Still, it would be rather strange to not port the original Halo first. IMO, not only would it be a huge hit, it also is advertising for the Xbox One.
Invented online shooters? Maybe for the xbox. There are a lot of other games that deserve a lot more credit than halo 1 and 2 on the PC for bringing the FPS revolution. And then credit Dota 2/LoL/SC & SC 2 for killing it.
REALLY curious as to how the controls would be done for this - especially with the dual wielding aspect...
Just slap Gameloft controls on that puppy and you're good to go. Minus the sprint and ADS, of course.
Of course it would make the controls simpler with that fact of no sprint. But ADS would still be there. With the battle rifle sniper rifle carbon rifle rocket launcher beam rifle, and the visor zoom function.
"It's unlikely that halo is being ported to ios as it's just about the only exclusive Microsoft has which people are interested in."
Wow, a little opinionated there, huh? I actually thought the last game (Halo 4) was one of the best in the franchise despite not being developed by Bungie. But whatever. I'm no Microsoft or Sony fanboy. But I could easily see them doing something like this as an ADVERTISEMENT for their products. Hey, get some more people sucked into the Halo universe and maybe we can sell some more Xbox Ones. As for the confusion over who "owns" these games. MS owns the IP so no one can develop a Halo game without their permission. They don't develop them in-house (although Bungie was at one time owned by MS). Ms. Splosion Man wasn't developed by MS, Twisted Pixel did. But again Microsoft was the publisher of the game. So obviously they don't seem to have an issue with developing for the iOS. I have no idea whether this will happen. And it probably won't. But I certainly don't think it's impossible.
Well you never really know...Just take a look at what they did with the xbone DRM fiasco, they did a 180 and flipped that easily even though its the very backbone of their 10 year plan..All that road mapping and then pooff all gone.. But I will also acknowledge that this is a valid point.. I just want to keep an open mind..I have never stated that I believe in this rumor 100%..
Still think the opposite would be true. Porting the early Halo games would be a great way for MS to introduce the franchise to a more casual crowd and maybe hook them in enough that they may get more console sales for the newer games.
Yup I mentioned the exact same thing here..I even see it more likely for the dual stick shooter to be ported than this..
since the first halo changed fps games at their time period maybe they intend to do the same for ios? Or that's just half way wishful thinking.
Lol, and and halo 4 was alright, it was way to "push that then kill this" and never really encouraged any real exploration, unlike the OG. I'd like to see 343i actually develop an engine, so far they've used The Reach engine.
