Thanks MMP for suggesting such meaningful idea! It is great to form such kind of positive power. The influence will be amplified if the idea feature by TA
The web site will need volunteers to help run it .. swapping out apps etc. PM me to get you on board.
sad how our own country responds so quickly to Haiti but it took them so long to help victims of hurricane katrina in our own damn country.
I think we learned a big lesson then .. one that we can apply the knowledge to know and just help out in any way we can.
We can offer the proceeds from all four of our paid games for a period of time; just let me know what info you need from us. Spazzle Spazzle II Whizzit 123 Whizzit Words Thanks for organizing the effort! The U.S. government has provided the following information for making donations to assist the U.S. efforts to bring aid to Haiti: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/01/13/help-haiti It's very easy to make a donation; it took me less than 5 minutes to donate via the Red Cross website. You can also donate by sending a text message from your phone.
Thanks Fairlady .. as soon as we are organized and have the charity collected and web site up we will contact you.
I could definitely pitch in a few sales to help this excellent idea. One thing: you could possibly set up a poll on the website where visitors can vote for which charity they want their money to go to. The winner could be the one where the money is sent. Definitely could help considering certain people are fans of specific charities. Though not everybody would get their way, it could probably convince a few extra people to purchase.
I'm interested. Cheese Collect barely earns anything nowadays, but I think I can donate a few tens from my sales, maybe more. Keep me updated!
mrWalrus [SynthRacing] is doing something similar, I read it in the Synth thread earlier. Contact him if you want to touch bases.
I commented on the thread. If you see any other developers talking about this please let them know about this.
I wonder if someone would be able to contact Apple and ask for an exemption on the 30% fee for this. They could simply put a little checkbox in iTunesconnect if you want to participate in the charity, and they could even arrange all the funds to be sent directly to the official charity, without each of you having to individually send money orders (which would end up eating even more due to transaction fees.) I know it's a long shot but Apple have done charitable things like this in the past.
We've talked it over and want to go in on it too! Let us know when you need us to do anything. I'm so glad to see people getting together on this.
Great news! Stay tuned we are going to need a lot of help in getting the word out ... you can check out the web site we slapped together last night at: www.apprelief.com We are still working out some logistics so its not an official announcement just yet.
i just tweeted it, to see if any other devs on following me are interested. I am a published freelance writer for the local newspaper and have experience in writing press releases, if you need a wordsmith for releases. Let me know.
We might also be able to see if Apple would feature it on the app store/iTunes. It would give good press for them too. Not sure how we would go about that. what do you think?
