Great news! Only dislike of the DS game was the fact I couldn't replay side missions, which in my opinion, were the most fun. (like: the one where you show that lady a good time)
Perhaps someone can explain to me how the iPhone/touch version will have lower resolution textures when the iDevices have higher resolution screens than PSP (480 x 272 on PSP vs. 480 x 320 on iPhone/touch) and the PowerVR MBX-lite GPU apparently has better texture capabilities to boot? Am I missing something here? Can a dev chime in on this?
One thing this game won't have that I wish it did is the swing set. GTA 4 goes down in my book as having the best in game swing set ever.
censorship touch arcade edited my post. Why you ask? Not for spamming or innapropriate languuage but because i wrote in big and red. How does that justify editing my post. What kind of communist censorship is that. Losers. You have no rite.
i would explain fully, but i am just too tired after a 2 day battle with a rouge malware program and having to wipe my harddrive clean
They have every *right* to edit your post. And they have every right to ban your ass if you keep on spamming the forums by posting unnecessarily large, red text.
Come one people! Keep the thread on topic. I am hoping that this will be the same as the PSP version, as the higher res textures sound great, as do the extra side missions. Anyone have some things that they wish would be in the game?
I don't really have anything else that I wish to be added to the game, just everything that the DS version has plus upgraded graphics and the extra side missions. Can't wait!
Tmonine: Well I have GangStar and am going to be getting this so if I were you and you can wait I would. GangStar is fun and if you can't wait it is worth the $7 but if you can wait I would.
This is pretty cool. I already have the DS version which does rock but I wouldn't mind nabbing it off the app store as well
To let you know, it will be the PSP version. Only with a touch screen. People said that we shouldn't expect it to be any different from the DS version, but you have to think about it. The DS version was made for TWO screens, and the PSP version was made for one screen which closer matches the iPhone's screen in terms of resolution. With the factoid about screens, it would be much easier for Rockstar to port the PSP version to the iPhone than the DS version. They said the only difference is that the iPhone's version will have a few downscale textures, which I don't understand why. Just like Spiffy said, the iPhone runs the PowerVR MBX-lite GPU which is considerably better than the PSP's GPU, but I guess they just dumbed it down a bit for the 1st gen users.
Damn you 1st Gen users! Just kiddin', I'm not sure where I read but I do remember reading that the PSP has more processing power, or something like that. It is intended specifically for games, while the iDevices were intended for many other things, games were just added on later... Maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, I'd be really happy to see this released with the PSP version in October, it shouldn't be too hard to make an October release, right? I mean, there shouldn't be that many changes to make in order for the game to be optimized for the iDevice.
because the psp runs at an overclocked 333 mhz, i use to have a cfwed psp(gave it as a gift to my friend... i miss it so much), and use to love playing me some n64 on it. the ipod touch runs at 532 mhz(?) but i do believe that that is what it is able to, and apple underclocks it at like 450 or so just to be safe. But the ipod uses alot of its resources running background programs, while the psp, once a game is started the only thing it runs in the background is the home button press, the volume buttons, and (for cfwed ppl) any stuff you loaded into flash1 that'll load on a games launch. The fact is that almost all of the power on the psp goes to running one thing (e.g. why you cant play music and a game at the same time) while maybe half of the power on ipod or iphone actaully go into one program. Yes the ipod is way more powerful, but most of the resources are taken up by background apps.
