    Can't wait!

So if it's fully submitted, how long does it take for apple to ok the game and put it on the app store? Just wondering cuz I am dying to play this game. Haven't played a good turn based game since advance wars or fire emblem probably ;)

Ya I know what you mean, there is alot of turn based games on the app store but sadly very few are good. Another thing I love about glwg is the thought of having expansion packs of levels available via in app purchase, I hope there is a steady flow of them ;) I tend to fly through levels fast so I need lots! Haha

Thanks guys. There's no real way to tell how long Apple will take - I should imagine much of it is about local demand. I expect at least a week from what others tell me.

There isn't a map editor inside the game, but there is a PC tool we wrote to make the production levels. It's a bit rough and ready interface wise, but we intend to make it public once we can figure a nice way to get the results into the game.

no problem. That wouldve made the game 1001/100 but 1000/100 is still good

That's the part we're trying to figure out. There's always an option to have some future release made by us with a free campaign pack made by the masses, but people will need to play their own maps as they make em for that to gain traction.

Hell, you can always buy the pc or mac version of the game when they come out. :)

Blimey, creating our own levels would be fantastic! I guess having a level editor within the game is out of the question, then?

I think Ultimo's got the right idea - create the levels, send them to you for appraisal (maybe as an e-mail attachment or a [Send] button within the editor?), and then have them released as some kind of map pack either as an IAP or free update.

    What do you think?

Personally I reckon buying the PC/Mac version, while it's something I'll probably do, kind of defeats the object in wanting these maps on the iPhone!

It's totally our of the question. The terrain is triangulated by a very aggressive piece of number crunching to make sure it all looks nice, and that needs biblical amounts of ram and a fair amount of cpu time even on a top-notch PC.

(Tech geek bit: We could use a simpler meshing scheme but then the levels would start to look inferior. The whole point of the complex algorithm is to enable vertex coloured ambient occlusion.)

We will definitely consider some way of getting user levels into a future expansion pack though. Ideally one that doesn't involve me getting 100 mails a day with big attachments!

Yeh, vertex coloured ambient occlusion. I know all about that.

Also in computers, last week I learnt that if you highlight something then press "ctrl c" you can then press "ctrl v" to place that EXACT SAME TEXT somewhere else.

I think with my talents a move to an I.T job is on the cards for me. Any jobs at Rubicon?

No idea, it's not down to us. :(

We've set it to be "as soon as possible", but Apple have to check it out first. I shouldn't imagine it will take too long once they look at it, but there's doubtless a massive queue.

They apparently do, but I've not done this before. I'll be sure and make a big announcement here as soon as I know :)

Its been there for two days now, but there's not been any feedback from Apple yet one way or another.
