Or ppl are asking to take out the blood to reach out to a bigger demographic?
Having blood raises your age rating. Would you rather cater to 17+ or 9 and up? For a developer to make money where sales are important, you obviously want to reach out to a bigger demographic.

I'm of the same opinion tbh, but this is sadly something of economics. Nobody is really not going to buy this game purely because there's no blood in it, regardless of what they might say, but it seems a sizeable amout might not buy it because there is.

If we were making something more realistic looking then I'd stick to my guns and put plenty of gory reality in it. But given its light-hearted nature and cartoon style then I really don't think it's much of a loss tbh.

That's awesome, I'm really glad you folded Retina support into the HD sku instead of going iPad only. I also agree that 2.99 is absolutely fair for an HD title, in fact it's a bargain for a full TBS title.

Thank you for the clarity on your build breakdown and pricing strategies.

So you're saying that a game where cartoony soldiers run around a cartoony landscape shooting super-weapons at each other ... somehow equals real life?

    Seriously?

Yeah, you're entitled to your opinion, all right. That's about the nicest thing I can think of to say.

"Would you rather cater to 17+ or 9 and up?"

Lol, who are you? Adding a blood option when you kill someone doesn't add 8 years to a rating.

    To the Dev:

Ignore EVERYONE. The beauty about making your own game is that you can create the game to your liking to a certain extent (Based on your knowledge

and skills) I personally have created a few maps on an old RTS software and a few levels in LBP and the beauty of it was that I KNEW every little secret, how to "exploit" and how everything worked. (I even added a personal "sticker switch" that dropped exrta lives incase i was about to lose.)

Now, i wasn't amazing or anything, but the 200 or so hours i put in between both games i ended up being decent at it and enjoyed it.

And honestly, i know nothing about programming. But i saw Xcode in the Mac App store for $5 and i picked it up just to see what it looked like and how it all works. It's a crazy looking program with all kinds of different programing languages and that would scare the majority of people away. But just by looking at Xcode and reading 20 or so pages in a beginners programing book you get a sense of appreciation for the amount of trouble each and every developer goes thorough in creating their apps/games.

It's been partially submitted - finishing it off tomorrow. The paperwork was starting to make my head spin the evening.

The bizarre thing of all the talk of blood yay/nay is that the thing that allowed us to drop from 12+ to 9+ was making the general want a cup of tea instead of a Martini!

I've never understood why the drinking age is so high in America, but I'm seriously not sure why adding a passive booze reference in a game would raise its rating three years to 12? Surely it's <no effect> or <21> ?!?

I'd pay for it if it is compatible, even if the performance is so-so.

For $0.99, I'd try just about anything interesting on the App Store.

I appreciate the sentiment but trust me, it's really not playable on those devices.

If we don't get glowing reviews because the game is thought bad then that's fair enough, but I'm not prepared to invite bad reviews by putting something out that even I think is bad!

It's not like I don't have a vested interest here. If I thought for a moment that it might fly even a little bit, it'd be out like a shot.

So sorry guys, it's really not happening on 3G and it's not for want of trying. :(

This hurts double because one of my testers said the 3GS version is the smoothest game he's played to date!

Personally I would rather cater to the 17+, after all aren't they the working class?

Let me answer that question with another question.. If turning off the blood in game is mainly due so one could play with their kids shouldn't blood be the least of your problems? I mean how are you going to explain to a young kid shooting someone doesn't cause anyone to get hurt? And while we are on that subject A kid is about to play a game with guns and shooting other poeple! and we are arguing over blood in game?? Cartoon or not taking the blood out of a shooting game is still a killing game.

Have to agree with you there 100%
It's like in other countries nudity is allowed on TV , and commercials on TV and they have to lowest crime rates and rape rates in that country while we censor all that and we have a high crime and rape rate in this country.

Can we drop the issue of whether people who don't want blood and gore in their games are stupid? You said what you want, other people said what they want, please just let it go.

Blimey, seems to be a lot of talk about blood here!

@Rubicon though - are there restrictions on whether or not you can sell the .ipa file outside of the App Store? ie. you could sell the .ipa files and distribute them in the same way as you did the beta code in exchange for payment over Paypal or something? Is this worth investigating? At the very least, these users would be completely aware of the hardware-imposed limitations. To be fair, we're probably only talking about 20 extra copies of the game, so I'm not sure whether it's worth the work. Just a thought.. :)

I have no idea what you are talking about. All of my postings in that thread have been suggestions or comments about the actual game, not debates about how people should raise their children or what kinds of content are morally appropriate.
