Once it got to a pretty "complete" state I brought in the company I work for (a team of 8) to do the art and help with the final push of getting Gravitations complete. The main motivational factor behind building this was to be able to see how people will use the tools I built in ways that I could never think of. There is no right way to make a mission and there are no expected solutions either. While art was being produced, I made a more action-oriented Explore mode that breaks the convention of you setting your path before you fly and instead lets you fly anywhere you want in the universe I made. I can picture this mode turning into a game of its own but for now it is just an extra in the puzzle game. You can also play the entire game (minus Explore mode) on the web at GravitationsApp.com. Click "Play" at the top to get to the game. Any missions you make there will also show up in the iOS app for people to play, and vice-versa. Any feedback is appreciated. I am really interested in what types of the missions were difficult to understand or just didn't come through very well in Flight School. I want to have everyone understand the few simple mechanics behind the game as easily and organically as possible. I know that can always be improved. Thank you for your reading this. I hope you get your time's worth out of Gravitations, Michael Greyskull Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2009 5,587 1 38 Photographer/Social Sciences adjunct/sweet sweet l Fort Lauderdale #2 Greyskull, Jun 26, 2013 I'm installing it now. Very easy to play, but hard to win levels, very challenge game. Good a free game. TheSecondSeven Active Member Dec 19, 2011 35 0 0 Programmer Long Beach http://jloop.com #6 TheSecondSeven, Jul 5, 2013 Update 1.0.1 is ready and now is just waiting to be approved! Added check marks to the Online Missions page. They indicate which missions you have solved. Fixed a potential crash dealing with the Probe and Timers Fixed the bug where you would lose all touch control of a mission except for the UI and would have to quit and come back. Made the game prioritize selecting a beacon over creating a probe from the starting station. Made it so your zoom level affects how precise you need to be when touching objects. Helps when zoomed all the way, mostly. Limit the amount of each object that can be put on each level. The current values are set at: Planets 50, Anti-Gravity 25, Astronauts 25, Mines 100, Black Holes 5, Fuel Canisters 15(Going to lower this to 10) Did a revamp of how people with the iOS 6.0 updated over the air bug are affected. If you are using Game Center, you wont be affected at all. If you aren't you will still be able to play online and post missions but you will be tied to a general iOS 6.0 bug account named "Lost In Space" Fixed the bug where if you were ordering by Newest it would reset back to Rating, while not changing the button, after going back to the Online Missions page from a missions detail page. It now remains on the order you were on. Update 1.0.2 will include Having it save the last solution you did on a "Your Mission" before you submit it. So when you submit the Mission it also submits the solution,so the user doesn't have to solve the mission again to get their solution on the leaderboard. An elegant way of saving online missions and being able to play them when you don't have an internet connection. At least start tracking when people view solutions so that the account of the solution can get some points for their solution being viewed. May be a later update when you can actually view player's accounts within the app. Mini screenshots for tips in flight school Blow up moons when mines run into them Andre Well-Known Member Apr 11, 2012 3,643 2 38 #7 Andre, Jul 5, 2013 What does "TOFTT" mean? killercow Well-Known Member Apr 8, 2009 3,784 3 38 https://twitter.com/killercow #8 killercow, Jul 5, 2013 Take One For The Team POLYGAMe Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2010 566 0 0 Game Developer (iOS, Mega Drive, C64) Auckland, New Zealand http://www.polygame.co.nz #9 POLYGAMe, Jul 7, 2013 Looks cool. Update 1.0.1 is already out for App Store Review, but 1.0.2 will have a settings page to turn off background music and sound effects. Sorry for driving you mad! I can't believe the number of games free or not that force you to listen to music you don't want, putting you off when a simple option is all that is needed and just as importantly the player should be given as many choices as possible to customise the game to his or her prefrences (where possible) music/sound must be top of the list (and the easiest to implement) because I turn the music off in 90% of the games I play so don't take it personel it's not just this game. I know music can be an important part of a game but a simple on/off button can make a game far more pleasurable when you have a choice to listen or not Will ALL devs please take note, thanks! Do you have something in mind that would be helpful to someone new to this mission? The goal of the mission is to get the player to learn how to make loops which are usually the most efficient way around a planet if you need to go on both sides of a planet. Here is what I hope the users get to when presented with this mission and tip. It solves the mission with 59kg of fuel left. Of course there can be other ways to solve it. I should make the tip to be more specific about the direction of the loop though! While this way is still possible it is definitely cutting it close. Thanks for your initial feedback and any additional feedback would be appreciated. I know nothing is perfect and am always looking to improve! Your Pictures does exactly show what I was talking about. The Hint does explain that you should have a Green Loop which would indicate that you more or less don`t go into Yellow/Red at any point to manage it. But as you and I already have passed that Mission by doing not what the hint was advising we both know that it doesn`t have to be GREEN at all. I would assume that by removing GREEN from the advise and just use instead... Make an nice LOOP around the Planet. ...it would make more clear what has to be done and how to procede. It not that much of a problem but it just pissed me of to be honest that a Hint is more or less advising something that isn`t as much helpfull as don`t say anything at all at that moment. I just submitted update 1.1 today adding "counter-clockwise loop" to the tip since I have noticed some people try to go to the top astronaut first and that makes it much harder. The next update after that I will change it from GREEN to nice. The change is already coded and just waiting now. I will also punish my tip writer Chris for his crimes.
