I don't see why it's one or the other, frankly. Gangstar may be a little rudimentary compared to most other GTA games, but I had fun (and continue to have fun) with it. It's not brilliant but it's a good time and a nice distraction. Chinatown Wars is a more polished game and a better distraction, one that I'm currently loving. But honestly, I think Gangstar is just fine. It's a good time that I find myself returning to now and then and enjoying. I think both games can co-exist.
obviously gangstar...it is shorter, not to mention 3rd person view, easier, no drug dealers, not a lot of people, no chainsaws, a smaller map, no grenades, no boats, etc....whoever thinks GTA is better is whack
GTA no comparison. The decade and a half worth of experience shines through in all areas of the game, which appears to have been quite lovingly crafted (never played CTW before). Compared with a hastily developed cash-in on the concept? The full 3D gameplay doesn't mean much if you're playing in a barren wasteland of a city so small and devoid of character it feels less like LA and more like Flint, MI. Not to mention the hideous writing and music. Liberty City is huge, diverse, and packed with life. The gameplay and writing are solid. And it's so nice to hear well composed custom music in one of these games again. Unlike Gangstar, or Driver for that matter.
