Hey, I'm really, REALLY dying to get GTA, but it's a bit heavy on the language for me. If there's any way to tone it down, even if it's not completely eliminate it, it'd be greatly appreciated as it's the only way I'm getting the game. Otherwise, how good is Gangstar of an alternative? That's definetly my next choice for this kind of game.
From what I saw in the gameplay of the DS and PSP version combined, it was pretty constant. There were a few sentences where they were using it twice. For example, in the IGN review of the PSP one, there was one screen where the guy yelled "F---! We're being jumped! It's a f---ing ambush!". Idk if they edited it in the App Store release, but from what I've seen it's a bit much. I don't mean to be a wuss about it, it's just a parents' rule. An annoying one at that too, I hear that amount of swearing in one day of school. Oh well.
Ahh... bummer. I'm gonna have to pass for now if there's absolutely no way around it. And I hate skipping cutscenes, it really takes away from the game for me. If I'm really dying for it, I might run it by my parental units since they seem to be lightening up on the matter, but since they're somewhat of anti-GTA people, it might not work.
dont worry, my parents (at least my mom) is the same way. though, i might be able to convince my dad to let my mom let me get it... yea. haha
Omfg... you're kinda stupid, sorry. That's like saying Harry potter is better than Lord of the rings without having seen any of them... that's kinda stupid.
Lol, yeah pretty much everything except for pervasive language (they can handle some, and maybe one or two uses of the f word here and there in a game, like AC2) or nudity really. All the violence I can handle because they know I can tell my limits and between real and fake. Lol my dad was even watching me play L4D2 and he was cool with it. I think this game just takes it a step too far. Most games with this much content usually have a way to filter it, like in Gears 2 and Brutal Legends, where the language is otherwise ridiculous. I've played them without the filter on for a few minutes, and it was really bad, to the level of this game. So if there's any possible way to even lessen it, I could get it.
It really isn't that bad, there may be a swear word or 2 every cutscene but really... Actually, how old are you?
16... yeah I hear it in school every day and yet it's still limited at home. It's not even like I say it at home or school. I still don't understand, but it's a rule, and there will always be stupid rules, so I guess I gotta deal with it. And how often are said cutscenes? I've played games where there are cutscenes frequently, and if this is one of them... it's not gonna work out.
i really really want the game! but youre right about the language. i dont think its necessary in a game. GTA can be the phenomenal franchise it is without the profanity. you know
The cutscenes are just words that are writen and not sound so they will never have to hear or know about the swear words, also don't be such a baby.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so... Games, movies, music, books... all could use a little reduction in the language department sometimes. For me, it distracts from whatever it is I'm seeing/hearing and it's annoying. Useless, unless it's showing EXTREME power and emotion, but some take it a bit far and use it in casual conversation, such as games like Fallout 3 (where you can skip individual lines of text, so I just hit the button to continue before they said it out loud). Sorry if I took this thread completely off topic, I'm just looking for a way to get this game.
your 16? heck! i was 12 when i got it on the ds! though i did download it without my mum knowing... she still doesn't know... thing is, due to kids in my school being so perverse, i understood all the sexual references (down to 'err... coffe?') and the swearwords were just like everyday words! even funnier, my school is meant to be one of the best in the country!
I think that's everywhere dude... Every school has swearing and dirty jokes going around... but it just becomes a part of daily life. Not exactly a good thing, but I think we've all just become used to it by now. And sometimes I can kinda keep it on the DL, but they ask me what I'm playing alot, and when I reply with GTA or they see an f bomb on the screen, they won't be too happy. Consequences would most likely follow, and not good ones.
i will be 16 in march, so we have the same situation. i dont really know why my mom is so anal about this stuff. idk. im a good kid and stuff. never really get into trouble or anything (except im a really smart aleck). but i dont know why she would be worried about this game. about the profanity, i hear it all the time at school also. probably worse actually than in the game. and its annoying when people in real life cuss in almost every second. everything is f***ing this and f***ing that. you know. its not even used in correct context anymore
