The Advance Wars series is my favorite gaming series of all time. GLWG does not need to blatantly rip off its animations though. GLWG stands on its own really. My only request is to evolve the gameplay. New weapons or terrain, enemy capabilities, perhaps heroes with RPG elements?, base fortifications? There are countless ideas, but I think the gameplay should evolve in some fashion. I'm probably in the minority in that I don't care about multiplayer but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. Anyway, thanks for opening up your game to ideas. I've had a lot of fun playing the first one!
-Multiplayer (2-4 people) -Faster animations -Better balance of units i) "More" but not to many more ii) A better health determiner then whats currently in place (Hp/Hp instead of % remaining) iii) Removing the "less damage when hurt" iv) Less "one shot kills"
I disagree strongly. That's a large part of the game and an excellent part at that. adds to the strategy a lot
I find it to be more of an annoyance then anything. But really, I'm just looking for a fun, balanced, Multiplayer TBS game to play. And honestly, the best advice i can give out is to go play field commanders for the PSP, as it is the best TBS game I have ever played. Plenty of maps, Plenty of troops, Plenty of planes, Plenty of boats, Plenty of ideas. Seriously Rubicon, If your willing to look into Field Commanders for possible balance/map/unit ideas, Shoot me a PM and i will happily send you the game.
Dood, it's Advanced Wars on PSP. Seriously, having played 3 AW games (or 4?) myself, I could hardly find any new concepts in FC. Everything that's been done in AW is ported with different graphics design and story. However, the attack animations are too simple and I disliked them quite a bit. Single unit combat make the overall conflict feel small, unlike AW where each unit resemble 'squadrons'. And I believe units in FC also suffer from 'less damage when hurt'. Though the amount of playable factions and their special abilities/effects are very nice and hugely increased the fun factor for me.
Yeah, I've never played AW sadly, If your telling me that AW is better then FC then it's a shame I haven't. But yeah, Like i said. I just want an amazing Multiplayer TBS game
Oh yes sorry I didn't really take your desire to request good multiplayer functions into consideration. I have to admit, FC does have one of the best multiplayer functions. And FC is widely regarded as AW on the PSP so yeah... not much difference in core gameplay between the two.
Heh, it's getting warm in here I'm open to suggestions on a new way of indicating damage to troops in range. There are a number of options available and all of them have drawbacks. However I'm willing to listen if someone has a good idea.
One thing I do want to touch on is GameCenter. How important is this really? Initial investigations would seem that the new Apple TBS server coming in OS5 has a limit of 4Kb for a move file and that's just not going to be enough, whereas openFeint allow up to 16Kb which is. If we have to go with OF for that, then it would make sense from a coders perspective to go with them for everything else also. ie achievements and leaderboards (yes there will be some) and anything else they provide. There is also the issue that we're doing an Android version also and clearly Apple's server won't allow an overlap there. However OF have promised TBS support for Android in the near future. You'd love to beat up on "the other side" wouldn't you ?
foe the damage maybe tapping on the targeted unit and holding brings up a small screen displaying the info then that leaves when you let go. for gc vs openfient I don't really care as long as the achievements could be shown in gamecenter
Damn it. I guess openfeint would be okay. but imo, use it for as little as possible, as it feels slower and buggier than gamecenter.
I am sooo getting the new one! I would like some good big tactical maps, And i've got a new infantry unit: builder-he can build buildings. Also i think that putting in a new special tank called the flak tank- it would be good on lightly armored units like grunts and recon tanks and artillery trucks. Thanks!
Oops i forgot- this.... Quote: Originally Posted by spockgold007 what about a map creator and the ability to share them online, this could also be done in 2d instead of 3d, if 3d isn't possible Sounds awesome!!!!!!!! especially the map creator!
We've started on it. Mainly we're waiting on OS5 for the multiplayer stuff but lots of other things are going in as we speak. Including some most or all of the requests received thus far. Keep em coming!
i don't know if someone has said this, but could you implement an xp system (secondary objectives in the main campaign) that upon completion would give you xp to spend towards one unique unit (a commando) that you could customize with perks?
