TA Review 3.5/5 http://toucharcade.com/2013/12/05/gary-chalks-gun-dogs-review-an-original-gamebook-with-a-classic-feel/ "Plenty to see, lots of replay value through the many paths you can take, some wonderful illustrations by Gary Chalk, and an intriguing new world, you could do a lot worse in the genre than Gun Dogs. The Fighting Fantasy books on offer from Tin Man Games are probably better, but Gun Dogs has the notable advantage of being completely new, while still maintaining a classic style, and I think that combination has appeal to a lot of fans of gamebooks. I hope we see more books in this world and that they up the stakes appropriately." 148 Review 4/5 http://www.148apps.com/reviews/gary-chalks-gun-dogs-review/ "In terms of game mechanics, it’s business as usual here. The familiar Tin Man Games engine works well as always; offering a series of different difficulty levels depending on how the player wants to approach things. There’s still always the choice of cheating and having a virtual finger in the book, allowing one to backtrack if they don’t like the results. Plus there’s the much more challenging difficulty level for those who want to face a few problems. Combat is easily conducted via dice rolls, with further dice rolls required for using the player’s gun. After all, who could be called a Gun Dog without owning such a weapon? While some adventure gamebook stories falter with a series of ways in which one can fail all too quickly, I didn’t find this to be the case with Gary Chalk’s Gun Dogs. Not that there aren’t numerous ways in which to replay or discover new avenues to explore. It just doesn’t feel quite as stop/start in nature as some can be. It’s all comfortably familiar here with a few small refinements littering the way. While Gary Chalk’s Gun Dogs doesn’t revolutionize the genre, it’s still a very respectable entry into the adventure gaming field. Experiencing an original tale is the true benefit here and I do hope to see more again." You are a Gun Dog.** REVIEWS **"Packed with action, intrigue, and gore - and excellently told and illustrated by Wallis and Chalk, respectively - Gun Dogs could well be Tin Man's most accomplished gamebook to date." - POCKET GAMER - 9/10 - GOLD Award!"In a sense it’s a familiar world for those used to Fighting Fantasy tales, but refreshingly, this is a story one hasn’t traveled along before. It remains at the same level of quality however, with the artwork proving a particular delight. Fans of the Lone Wolf books will particularly appreciate the work, given both come from the same illustrator." - 148 APPS - 4/5"Presents a detailed and pleasingly old-school fantasy world, bought vividly to life with Gary Chalk’s excellent artwork. Fun and quick to play through, with decent replay value." - GAMEZEBO - 4/5"The fact that Gary Chalk, the illustrator behind the original Lone Wolf books, is involved in this production is more than enough to get interested in Tin Man Games' newest release. Still, worthwhile grabbing if you're into your gamebooks. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
