Games you hate?

Oh, I'm sure somewhere buried in the pages upon pages of the Lounge is a thread about which games you hate, but since I don't want to sort through that, and there's been "Favorite Game" threads recently, I thought, why not? Plus, I read on another website a thread dedicated to games you hate.

So, what are the games that you personally loathe and can't stand? Or, to a certain degree, dislike. Loathe is a strong word after all.

    As for me,

Baldur's Gate - Never clicked with me. Boring, hard, and....I said boring right? I pretty much HATE having to pause/unpause/paus/unpause/pause/unpause a game constantly to be able to do anything. Not to mention those D&D rules are kind of lame, I remember when I first played it, I was like "What? I can only cast a spell once a day? That's bogus dude!" (This was a long time ago). Although, interestingly enough, I DID like Icewind Dale, which is essentially Baldur's Gate minus the character development. Which is perhaps why I liked it, because unlike Baldur's Gate, you can make whatever party and characters you want.

Kingdom Hearts 2 - I liked Kingdom Hearts, but I thought it had pretty much no replayablity. And being as this game is basically Kingdom Hearts all over again with new locations, well, there you go.

Final Fantasy VII - I'll be honest, I don't HATE it, but I don't like it either, and I'm one of "those people" who think this is arguably the worst of all the modern Final Fantasies. (That is, from 7+). A lame story, with a lame main character, a cool antagonist (Sephiroth I think is the primary reason this game is so popular), and a painfully awful looking setting. I first got this on my computer (The PC version released by Eidos), and couldn't get past the first two hours or so because Midgar is such a terrible location and I thought the whole game was going to be this ugly techno-punk/noir atmosphere. It got significantly better when I got to Costa Del Sol (or whatever the name is) but this is generally the only FF game that I really never think about replaying. I did, however, kind of like the materia leveling up of it.

Adventure Games - So shoot me. I played Sam & Max Hit the Road when I was a kid and liked it, but that's about it.

    Diablo - Boring.

Fallout - I noticed a trend when I tried to play Fallout (and subsequently Fallout 2 when I gave up on the first one): This whole top down thing is not too fun. See: Baldur's Gate.

Command & Conquer - I have a somewhat love/hate relationship with RTS games. I either get into them for a while, like I did with Starcraft, or I blow $30 on the C&C all in one boxset and only play for like 2 hours before regretting my purchase. To make matters worse, I am somewhat considering Red Alert for my iPod if it ever goes on one of those awesome "free" sales.

Suikoden 2 - Thank god I didn't spend $150 or whatever the price is these days to play it. I don't understand, aside from the supply/demand aspect, why this game sells for so much. Bad gameplay, a boring story, and annoying music. I gave it a good 10 hours before I got fed up.

I'll agree with you on FF7. Lame childish story and characters, atrocious graphics, and mediocre gameplay. FF9 was better.

I really like the Suikoden series, good atmosphere, story, characters.

Have you played Fallout 3? because its not like the first ones...much better.

God I hate the internet and everyone on it.

I realize that FF7 in a lot of ways is a victim of trying to make the jump to 3D prematurely. I think they could have done a lot better by not being to ambitious. Of course, it could be worse, it could have had Xenogears graphics! (And a Xenogears story might have been pretty nice)

i was notoriously frustrated and let down by Geom Cube for the PSX.. HATED Sims 2 on the DS, it was a letdown in every single way and glitchy to boot.. on the App store Penquin Bowling and The Bomb/The Safe looked promising, but fell flat.

That's a bit of a stretch. How did he insinuate that? And how do you in any way know his gaming preferences?

    And...oh wait..it's Aurora nevermind. ;)

Indeed, I was very much disappointed that I had to sit through page after page of dialogue when all I really wanted to do was shoot zombies.

    /yawn at hyperbole

Defensiveness aside, the game was, for me, a huge letdown. the battle sytem was pretty dull, choosing to attack with 6 different characters, and having to hit the X button to select "Attack" and then confirm your selection by hitting the X button again, got old fast.

The so-called "strategy" battle part was a joke as well. The character battles were annoying, but the two they tacked on, said strategy, and the one on one battles were gimmicky at best.

And as I admitted, I only got like 10 hours into the game, which isn't enough to get a full grasp on the story, but SHOULD be enough to determine whether the story is actually going anywhere, which is wasn't.

Also, saying that I didn't like it because I "didn't understand it" is one of the lamest internet comebacks ever.

And come on! Doesn't anyone else have games they don't like?

Because those are all the things Suidoken are?
I don't know if that last comment was supposed to be an insult or something?
Or is it meaningless like all the other comments. Oo

I pwn the game, how can you lose?

    Games I hate:

I never hated a game I paid for... Fallout 3 is awesome (im in kinda of a creepy/annoying location, and I did some start from save shortcuts that Im not super proud of)...

Honestly I wish I could just play Classic Everquest.. :p

There was this one RPG for the Xbox when it first came out, I forgot the name... that was kind of lame

If this is a serious post, and not some sort of ironic one, then you should check out Shards of Dalaya. As close as you're gonna get to Classic EQ these days.

Come on man, at least I'm trying to give reasons why I didn't like the games i mentioned! Instead of just saying "Hated X, because it sucked"

Just because he doesn't like Suikoden II doesn't mean he doesn't like any other similar games.

To automatically assume he needs zombies/violence/terrorism, etc. in a game because he doesn't like this particular game IS a stretch.

I'm assuming you like Suikoden II, which is why you jumped at him when he spoke ill about it. Different strokes for different folks Aurora.

Most comments on forums are meaningless BTW, including yours.

Thanks, yea I was playing on a few real emulator servers, but its all the new settings, shards of dalaya isn't everquest either (and Ive heard there is drama)

EverQuest Classic project is rumbling along, they got hit with a Cease & Desist last year by Sony  :( , but they're up again! and this time with the proper legal loopholes! ( i found out the second part when I googled it again, because I know all the work didn't just dissapear, it went to a bunch of different projects)

Yeah, that's true it isn't EQ classic, but I still think they've put a decent amount of work to make a very fun and playable alternative. As forthe dra, well, that's mostly with people who think that they are owed something from a FREE game, like they might be from a paid one. I mostly steer clear of it and you don't really end up being caugt up in it!
