You guys do realize that it's highly unlikely that any of these games will be any of their high profile games right? Also I highly doubt they have the authority to make any of the ubisoft/console ports a part of the promotion.... Anything can happen of course... Just dont get too excited. Wouldn't want to see anybody disappointed.
wow this sounds amazing... I hope this thread will be updated as soon as the stuff starts. but 2 hours is really really short time for people with a life - bummer. but perhabs one can grab one or two good titles in this time let the hunt begin
I'm sure Let's Golf will be free, it was free for a day anyway. Then Hero of Sparta will be free too as they want to hype up the sequel. My wishlist is Oregon Trail, but of course they're more likely to give away games like Bridge Odyssey, Block Breaker Deluxe and Wild West Guns.
Out of higher profile games, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hero of Sparta and Gangstar as two of the games to help push the upcoming sequels. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the $.99 apps (Castle Frenzy, Bailout Wars etc..) be some of the games as part of this deal. I highly doubt we'll see NOVA, Modern Combat, Brothers in Arms 2 and other new and rather high profile releases.
Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. But then again, it if is only the .99 games, you would think the time frame for the freebie would be longer than 2 hours. The short window of opportunity leads me to believe it might be some of their larger games and not restricted to the cheapies.
It's already NOT the 10th in some areas of the world anymore! But yet no word. I really wonder how this will work.
I think the original idea of Gameloft wants to make people happy. But I think it come to make most of the user angry. NZ is over 10 May 2 more hours is over here, Hong Kong too. Their 2 hours in everyday (which time zone)?
The problem is no matter when the two hour window is, some time zones are going to get screwed unless you happen to be up late or have text updates from Twitter and are willing to wake up and download the game. Apparently Gameloft is going to shift the times around to allow each region of the world to have some games during peak hours. Still, with such a small window and the entire globe to please, every day is going to upset someone.
If a guy gets upset because a company is trying to give a chance to the whole world... Well, then that person has issues. Agreed 100%. They'll hype the upcoming sequels and also their minor games. I doubt their contracts for ports allows them sell them for free, so i wouldn't expect those either. I hope i'm wrong, though.
I want a refund for my free game! LOL. Seriously people, it's free stuff, if you get it, you get it, if not, well, deal with it. There are contests in your parts of the world that those of us in the US aren't awake for, why should this be any different? Also, I question if this is even supposed to be open to all region codes?
They set the app to FREE. No codes needed. I need to sleep now. Hope they will not release until I wake up.
I imagine this is going to be focused on Europe/North America. Not that other parts of the world don't matter, but I'd be willing to bet North America accounts for the majority of iPhone/iPod Touch sales and Gameloft is a Europe based company. It makes the most sense for them to cater to the majority of their customer base. I still don't know how on earth they are going to coordinate all the different app stores changing prices to free and back to paid within the same 2 hour window. With the free app a day sites, different stores seem to update the price at different points at night.
I'm beginning to wonder if it was all some publicity stunt and they are not actually going to release free games. I thought it was too good to be true.
As much as I may despise many of Gameloft's games, they are a real company and it would be idiotic for them to lie about this. What purpose does it serve other than making them look like idiots? It's only mid/late afternoon in Europe and mid morning here in the US, so there are plenty of time left for that initial release.
