What impressed me about the warpgate graphics is how far you are able to zoom in and how detailed the ship models are up close.
I sure hope the GoF2 surpasses warpgate but if it is anything like the first one it is destined to fail at that. It looks great and plays great as it has an awesome combat system but it lacks any storyline and the missions were so repetitive it made me sleepy. Hopefully Fishlabs learned something since then because i really wanted to love GoF 1 but it was just too hard to.
wait, i've got an xtremely great comparison; comparing warpgate to GOF 2 is like comparing GTA chinatown wars to gangstar. in my opinion gta would be the better, but it's really not that great a comparison. EDIT: actually, the two games are too similar to match the scenario put out in this thread
Hi All, can't really comment on WG but you might check out our GoF2 microsite. It is just about the Java version of GoF2 but all the features and even more will be in the iPhone version. Bottom line, there's a lot trading as well ;-) In case you haven't read the second part of our developer diary: HCK, our lead programmer, gives some more insights on the gameplay. Cheers, Michael
Thanks alot for posting! We are all hoping that GoF2 will have alot of depth to it. I personally would love a really long epic space saga, or atleast multiple factions with different story trees to explore+repeatable missions. One thing I read about GoF1 was that the main story locked you into the first galaxy until you were done, and then the rest of the galaxies were just bland missions. Some of the things I am really liking are the nice texturing, they dont feel stretched or 'painted' on. I also love the planets, Warpgate doesn't give the epic feeling of planets like in your game. I also hate the gameboard in Warpgate, I'm in space, let me fly around not just hop over a ship that comes in my path. I was personally disappointed in Warpgate turning out to be so mild. GoF 2 looks like it will definitely deliver, atleast give me some 3D space! here is the TA thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=51928&highlight=Galaxy+Fire
Video or anything other than a few still pictures would be nice. Looks like a 3D flying game not really like warp-gate my friend.... oh ya they are both in space though.
