Hehe, well bottom line is if you don't like anagram based word games, you most likely won't like this game....I just don't want anyone to think this game is a full RPG like RavenSword or Dungeon Hunter.
Right now I'm thinking of pricing it at $2.99. As for the release date, if all goes well, I'm hoping to submit by mid to late October. If the kind people at Apple want to give me a birthday present, it will be approved right around Halloween, which fits in nicely with the overall mood of the game
2.99 sounds like a good price. but yea hopefully apple doesnt lag..just do lottttts of testing and double check their guidelines lol
I want to add some voice overs for the main story, but the app looks like it's already going to be huge with all the audio and graphics...what do you guys think? Will it be worth it?
well if its over 10 mb why not?...they will only think that there is more content. well unless the voice overs are lame.
unless you have a really compelling reason to add it, you might just leave it out. You have a lot going on in the game already, maybe wait until the first update to see if it's the sort of add that would make sense, or if it bring more of a complete experience to the bigger picture. Hate to see you lay out more upfront for something that might not be too necessary, or bog you down in further details so close to launch. If you do want to do V/O, lemme know, as I do know some good voice talent and could record it for you. Even still, I think it may be better to wait and be sure the beta is playing awesome. My .02
good! glad to hear that yea you might as well..i mean if its already over 10mb then u might as well go all out lol
Yeah, originally I was thinking of the 10 mb limit and how to keep it under that so that people can buy it randomly...but then as we started looking at all the things we would have to cut out, I figured that it wouldn't be worth it to do that. I don't see my target audience as the impulse purchase crowd, even though this is a word game. If this was a 99 cent title I'd maybe consider it a bit more, but since it's priced at a higher tier, I'm hoping that I'm not making a mistake by excluding the impulse buyers who want their application immediately no matter where they are. Right now the music alone is over 10 mb!!
yeah, don't leave stuff out just to stay under 10mb woo hoo, that's the size of the music even after compression?
Not quite that high...I think the audio is coming in at right under 40mb if we don't add or chance anything.
i so wish i was part of the team developing this game. the are my absolute favorite games. i love being able to step away and still be thinkin tryin to figure out that one seemingly impossible puzzle.
I didn't look through the entire thread but i'd take a look at Bookworm Adventures, pretty similar in concept.
I don't think that's out yet for the iPhone is it? I've never played Bookworm Adventures, but I own the original Bookworm on the iPhone. That one is not like this game at all...more like Wordsworth. I love word games a lot though, so hopefully Bookworm Adventures makes an appearance!
You want to be part of the team developing? I'd be more than happy to share some of the financial burden with you No seriously, any and all ideas/feedback you have, throw them at me. Just out of curiosity, when you say favorite games, which genre are you referring to? word games or rpg games? or do you mean hybrid games?
So for a pre-release contest, I was thinking of doing an iTunes gift card as the prize. The contest would involve coming up with names for a couple of the Boss monsters. Winners would be decided upon by the beta testers I'll put up an official thread in the promo section, along with the rules, etc. Once the game is released I'll have some more contests with promo codes as prizes.
