It has one of the strongest chess engines in the app store, and it's completely free. If Fritz Chess didn't exist, I would have gladly spent $3.99 for this game.

This thread was failing with lack of rRootage, but don't worry... I fixed it.

I've compiled some (time limited) freebies in my weblog. Sorry it's German-language but anyway you'll find some screenshots, app names (highlighted) and App Store links.

Those should be free at this time:

Here you can try if the games are still free or not:

Good luck with this (older) one:

All games tested on iPhone 3G. I hope you'll find something you like. Recommended: The Gameprom Pinballs (The Deep, Wild West), Trivial Pursuit (not in all countries).

Also, the free versions of both Arctopia and Archibald's Adventures (lite) have enough content to be paid (full versions have over 100 levels, but free versions have 40+). I have paid games with only 20 or 30 levels with less content than the free versions of Arctopia and Archibald's Adventures.

Seed, Rise of Darkness, I love the retro feel, kinda like Zelda. I've paid for some of the extras, it's worth it.
Can think of other good ones, but not that I'd pay for, I'm tight on what I'll pay for. There's a couple demos I paid for the full version of...
