I have an idea. Why don't you close the thread and email square about how the game should work. Bro, relax. This game isn't for you, and what you feel is a survival horror. It's for everyone. People want what they want. You can't tell them that they are wrong. Just chill out, man. You don't need to defend every little critique. I know you are obviously passionate about this game, but a good game can defend itself fairly well. There will be auto aim. It's not going to destroy the games sense of horror, anymore than a spooky room with changing paintings. Anyway, as for the ability to drop items, I say do it. You mentioned a room that you can't leave without the key. Well, if your inventory is full, and you saved, then that's pretty much a game over, if all your items are non consumable. Looks good so far. Looking forward to beta testing this.
Hey guys, Wondering how can i make this thread mine? It was started by someone else and people though it was the official thread, when i realize it was a bit late to create the official one. I tried to contact an admin (and even the author of this thread) to help me out and change few stuff on the first page but never got an answer. Do someone knows a TA admin that can help me out with this?
Unfortunately it's not possible to transfer the thread ownership to you. Seeing as the OP is no longer active, he can't change the first page for you. So probably your best option would be for you to start a new thread, put a link to this thread and PM a mod/admin asking to lock this thread. Hodapp, ImNoSuperMan, NotYou, Zincous are often online so just contact them if you need any help. The game looks great btw. I'm really looking forward to it.
I have another idea. Why don't you accept the fact that forums are a conversational medium and that people can and will react to other folks comments? To be clear, I'm not "defending every little critique." In fact, I'm not really defending anything. I have responded to some suggestions that seem to miss the point and just to let the devs know that someone gets what they're trying to do. Yes, I'm a big fan of this particular sub-genre, and unfortunately Konami chose to bring a pathetic little game to represent the Silent Hill franchise. We already had a Resident Evil 4 clone from Gameloft (and a crappy port from Capcom as well), so we don't need another TPS with zombies. What tato's team is putting together here is sorely needed on the platform, and I want to make it clear that there is an audience for it. Obviously, people can bring in whatever concerns and expectations they have to the thread. If I disagree with them, I will probably say something about it -- in a respectful, if perhaps forceful way. If you don't like it, I suggest that you just ignore my posts. And yes, I'm also looking forward to the beta test.
1.) It will work on iPod Touch 4G? Or some graphic downgrade for iPod Touch 4G? 2.) Will be in the game CUT scenes?
From what I've gathered from tato's posts: *The game will support 3Gs/3rd Gen devices or better. *4th Gen devices and iPad will have better graphics (retina + real-time shadows, etc). *The video shown here was captured using an iPad 2, which manages all the bells and whistles at 60 FPS The notion that the game will run only on iPad 2s (or iPhone 5s) is simply not true.
1.) Duh, the game was started quite some time ago when the iPad 2 was far from being announced. This'll even run on the 3GS and iPod Touch 3!
I'd guess that real time shaddows would be possible on the 3.rd generation devices, them having the same GPU and that. Tatto, any details on this?
That's true. The point is, however, that in no way will the game be an A5 exclusive. It's amazing how easy it is to start a bonehead rumor on the internet.
We have similar faked effects on the 3rd/4th gen iDevices (including ipad1). Shadows aren't casted everywhere, only one light at time (instead of multiples ones), no shadowmapping, only planar shadows (no self-shadowing on characters/objects). Less pixel lighting and more vertex lighting, fewer particles and no post effects on the screen (no noise filters, bloom and flares). Lights flares are plane based instead of post effects (camera shader bloom/flares). Also, lower framerates. Is a bit like playing Crysis on a high end gaming system vs a low-end system, lots of effects are disabled. The iPad2 let us streaming scenes while playing the game without any interruption, that's why there's almost no waiting time (other than fade in/out of our scenes) when loading a room. I really suggest to anyone having an iPad1 to switch to the iPad2 (or any A5 based hardware), playing such game on a big screen is "horribly" awesome. Specially when you play at 2am, alone in the dark. ^^
Yes, I've commented about in-game cut-scenes in this page: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=36465&page=103 Cheers,
That was obvious (and official) from the beginning. People need to realise that the iPod Touch 2 by now has some really outdated hardware...
It seems to me that you are the one having trouble accepting this fact. Just relax. Stop being so angsty. You get so worked up over the littlest things. Your fits are off putting, frankly. I could see how someone would shy away from expressing their opinion when there's a risk it will be ridiculed for "missing the point." You say your goal is to have the developer see that someone gets what they are trying to do. They get it, breh. I think you've been forceful enough that we ALL get it. And we all get your take-it-or-leave-it attitude. WE GET IT. Your job is done my friend. Move on. Let us ignorant users take the stage. When we start to think that maybe we "get the point" then you can rain down your swift justice to remind us that we don't. I hope my opinion makes it through your strict approval process. Steve Jobs, watch your back. There's a new kid in town.
